Hilda stood there, completely stunned.

This Omega–she was the one asking to dissolve the bond? What right did she have to be the one initiating the severance?

“Have you lost your mind? If anyone’s ending this pact, it should be my brother who brings it up first! Who the hell do you think you are?” Hilda’s voice went shrill, sharp with rage.

“Then tell your brother to bring it up,” Lillian said with a quiet laugh. “I’ll sign. Simple as that.”

Hilda opened her mouth, but nothing came out.

Where did this Omega get off being so bold?

Before Hilda could pull herself together and fire back, Lillian hung up on her.

The dead line sent Hilda stomping around her room, practically vibrating with fury. That broke, pathetic Omega–who wouldn’t even be able to afford a meal once she was out of the pack–had the nerve to talk about dissolving the bond? It was laughable.

Still fuming, Hilda marched straight to Julian’s office.

Thomas was mid–report when she burst in, explaining that the men he’d sent to tail Lillian had lost her. Julian’s expression had just gone dark when Hilda threw herself into the chair across from him.

“Julian! You need to get rid of an Omega like Lillian! After what she did to Iris?” Hilda slammed her phone onto his desk. “And she says she’s actually sending you those bond dissolution papers? If they show up, you sign them!”

She wasn’t done. “Who does she think she is? There are plenty of Omegas out there–better ones! Does she seriously think you’re scared to break things off?”

Hilda kept going, the words spilling out in a hot rush, leaving no room for anyone to cut in.

She thought back to before Julian was bonded, back when females like Iris had lined up to marry into the Graves Pack. Who would’ve guessed he’d end up choosing a nobody like Lillian–and that he’d been the one chasing her, no less?

Hilda had always looked down on Lillian.

Every gift Julian had ever given Lillian, Hilda had kept tabs on. She’d always made sure Eleanor stepped in to redirect those things, getting them put under her own name instead. No way was she letting Lillian get even a scrap of advantage from this pack.

At the mention of bond dissolution papers, Julian’s gaze snapped to Hilda, cold and sharp.

“You called her?” His voice was low, threaded with something dangerous.

But Hilda, still caught up in her own outrage, didn’t notice. “Yeah, I called her! And she said she wants to dissolve the bond with you, said you should sign!

“She actually thinks she gets to initiate the dissolution? I’d love to see where she ends up once she’s gone!”

Julian’s eyes narrowed, something sharp glinting in them. “What did you say to her?”

Hilda blinked. “I just asked her. She-”

She looked up and met his eyes. The frost there made her shiver.

Julian spoke slowly, each word deliberate, “Whatever you said, you’re going to apologize. Now.”

Hilda’s jaw dropped. “What? Julian? Lillian, she-”

“She’s my mate. She’s the Luna of this pack.” Julian’s voice dropped lower, rumbling like thunder rolling in before a storm.

Hilda pressed her lips together. Luna? Who actually saw her as Luna? Was she even worthy of the title?

Julian kept going. “After all these years, you still haven’t figured out how to show her respect?”

Hilda tried again. “It’s not that. I just–I saw what she did to Iris, and-”

“Your cards are cut off for the next six months.”

“Wait, Julian, you can’t do that!” Panic flickered across her face.

Six months? Was he serious? He was going to cut her off financially over that Omega?

Julian held her gaze. “Are you apologizing or not?”

Hilda’s face crumpled. “She blocked me! How am I supposed to apologize now?”

Earlier, when she’d called Lillian from the road, she’d had to borrow some stranger’s phone.

But facing Julian like this, she didn’t dare flat–out refuse. Seriously–after Lillian had beaten Iris up, after she’d caused that whole public scene, Julian still expected Hilda to apologize?

Julian didn’t budge. “Then how’d you reach her just now?”

Hilda stammered. “I-”

“You’ve got one hour.” He turned to the window, dismissing her.

His stance was rock–solid. No give.

And Hilda didn’t get it. She’d seen Julian protect Lillian before, sure. But never like this. What was going on? Lillian caused all this trouble, and now Julian was circling the wagons around her even tighter?

But making her apologize to Lillian…
