Hilda crossed her arms tightly. “Not just apologize. Their lawyer contacted me too, telling me I have to give back everything that belongs to Lillian.”

At that, Hilda completely lost it.

Eleanor’s eyes narrowed. “The lawyer reached out to you as well?”

“Yeah.” Hilda nodded, jaw tight.

Still fuming, she caught sight of Julian walking in and immediately went still, trying to dial back her temper.

“Julian.”

His expression carried a chill. He strode into the living room and lowered himself onto the sofa across from Hilda.

The weight of his Alpha presence pressed down on the room, heavy and impossible to ignore.

Hilda didn’t dare push him.

The entire Graves Pack answered to Julian now. All family expenses were handled through a designated person at his company. Aside from the annual dividends, every single daily expenditure had to go through his approval process.

And Hilda had already burned through last year’s dividend money. Which meant for the rest of the year, if she wanted to spend anything, she’d have to submit requests to Julian’s company.

Julian’s gaze cut to her.

Hilda tensed under it and rushed to say, “You told me to apologize, and I did. I sent you the screenshot.”

Eleanor couldn’t hold back either. “What exactly is going on with you? Do you not understand what the priority is right now?”

The public narrative hadn’t been contained yet, and here he was, getting tangled up in pointless little dramas.

Especially that spat between Hilda and Lillian–was that really worth his attention? Forcing Hilda to apologize to Lillian at a moment like this….

Julian turned a lighter over in his hand, quiet for a beat. “I know exactly what my priorities are”

Eleanor fell silent.

Hilda kept her mouth shut too.

Julian looked between them. “You two, though? Seems like you’re the ones who don’t get it. Are your eyes always fixed on Lilian? Does it eat at you if you’re not making her life harder?”

Every gift he’d ever given Lillian…

If Thomas hadn’t laid it all out today, Julian wouldn’t have believed it.

Everything he’d given her had been stripped away. Just how closely had they been watching her all these years?

No wonder Lillian had finally snapped. So that was what pushed her over the edge.

Eleanor’s face darkened. “What nonsense is that? When have we ever made her life hard?”

“You haven’t? Then explain why everything I gave her is registered under your names.”

Eleanor had nothing to say.

Neither did Hilda.

At that, they exchanged a glance. Too furious to respond, Eleanor just pressed her lips together and said nothing.

Taking things from a younger pack member wasn’t exactly something to be proud of. When they’d helped themselves before, Julian had never questioned it. Now that he’d brought it up, the discomfort was plain on her face.

Hilda, though, tried to push back. “When she mated you, she said she wasn’t with you for the pack’s money. Mom and I were just… testing her for you. Looking out for you.”

Her voice trailed off toward the end.

Because Julian’s expression had turned absolutely black.

“So the test is over. That means what belongs to her should go back to her. Right?”

Hilda opened her mouth. “Well…”

She wanted to argue.

But one look at the ice in Julian’s eyes, and she swallowed whatever she was going to say.

She stayed quiet.

Julian turned to Eleanor. “What do you think?”

Put on the spot, Eleanor’s face tightened even more. She let out a cold breath. “The most urgent thing right now is still containing the public fallout. That’s what matters.”

Julian didn’t argue about the public situation. That did need handling….

But the gifts he’d given Lillian–he thought back to her face every time he’d handed her something. That indifferent expression.

He’d always assumed he just hadn’t figured out what she actually liked.

Now he understood. She’d never believed anything he gave her was really hers. The whole ritual of gift–giving had probably just annoyed her.

And she’d never said a single word to him about any of it.

Julian’s gaze dropped slightly, something complicated moving behind his eyes. “Thomas and the lawyers will put together a list. Whatever anyone took, they’ll hand over to Thomas.”

Word by word, his tone stayed cold and final. No room to argue. No room to doubt.

“And your grandmother?” Eleanor asked, barely holding back her temper.

Catherine wasn’t well. After visiting Iris today, she’d gone to their estate in the neighboring city to rest up.

Fine. Their own shares they could deal with. But Catherine’s things–was he really going to make her give those back to Lillian too?

Did Lillian even deserve that?

Julian didn’t hesitate. “For Grandmother’s share, I’ll put together a new set for Lillian myself. From me.”

Eleanor and Hilda went completely still.

He’d replace what Catherine had taken? So they had to return everything, no exceptions?

This wasn’t just a slap. It was a full hit.

“Julian, the most important thing right now is Iris. If your grandmother finds out you’re making a scene over Lillian like this, she won’t be happy.”

Neither Eleanor nor Hilda wanted to give those things back. Especially now, when Lillian was the one pushing to dissolve the mate bond.

But Julian didn’t bend. “One thing at a time.”

Lillian had just finished dinner with Chloe.

Her phone rang. Margaret’s name lit up the screen.

When she answered, Margaret’s voice came through tight, each word clipped. “Lillian. I underestimated you.”

A broke Omega from nowhere–and with today’s move, she’d stirred up a scandal so big that even the Graves Pack working together couldn’t bury it.

Hearing Margaret’s voice, Lillian let out a quiet, dismissive laugh. “For you, Alpha Margaret, to admit you underestimated me… I guess that means I did something right this time?”

The mockery in her voice landed like a blade, and Margaret felt it.

Margaret gave a cold laugh on the other end. “There’s someone from your past. An old friend. I think you’ll find her… familiar.”
