Lillian stood up. As she passed Thomas, she pressed the box of supplements into his hand. “Don’t bother seeing me out. I’m not going back.”
Thomas shifted uncomfortably. “But the Alpha was very clear–I’m supposed to drive you back to Inkwood Gardens. The lawyer will meet you there to handle transferring those belongings back to your name.”
The things that had been taken from her before.
Lillian’s voice was flat. “Those can’t be transferred back.”
She didn’t elaborate. She just walked out.
Thomas hurried after her, still hoping to fulfill his orders. But when he reached the building entrance, he stopped short.
He watched Lillian climb into a sleek, unmistakable Phantom.
There were only two Phantoms in all of Gilneas City. One belonged to Julian. The other belonged to Finn.
It didn’t take a genius to figure out who’d sent that car.
Thomas hadn’t expected Finn to be so blatant about it–sending his driver to pick Lillian up in broad daylight. He pulled out his phone and fired off a message to Julian immediately.
Meanwhile, the photos of Lillian’s procedure had set the entire city on fire.
ris was getting dragged on every social media platform, and the backlash was even worse than the day before.
The day before yesterday, the Graves Pack had proudly announced the arrival of twin pups. Someone–probably Iris or Eleanor-
ad made sure to release that photo of Julian receiving a newborn outside the delivery room.
The message had been clear. Calculated. Meant to hurt Lillian.
But in less than forty–eight hours, that boomerang had swung back hard.
The trending topics were relentless.

One after another, the hashtags slammed into the trending charts, each one more damaging than the last.
ris stared at her phone, trembling with rage. Then she snapped, “I’m going to kill her!” The scream tore out of her, raw and wild.

“I’m going to kill Lillian! Why is she doing this to me?”

Eleanor had been holding her, trying to keep her calm. “Iris, stop. When you’re discharged, I’ll handle her. Slowly. But you need to
Hilda and Agnes arrived to find Iris sobbing uncontrollably in Eleanor’s arms, her face swollen and tear–streaked.
Hilda’s jaw tightened. Her resentment toward Lillian had been building for months. Now it was a living thing, clawing at her insides.
Iris gasped between sobs. “Why now? Why does she have to do this to me right now?
“Ethan was just he was just accompanying me while I gave birth. What’s wrong with that? Don’t other women get to have someone with them?”
Eleanor stroked her hair. “Of course they do. It’s not your fault. It’s Lillian. All of this is Lillian’s fault.”
Margaret had originally planned to stay in Western Continent for a few more days. But the moment she saw the public opinion spiraling completely out of control–her daughter’s reputation being shredded in real time–she’d booked the first flight back.
Iris shook in Eleanor’s arms. “I didn’t want to fight with her. I never wanted to fight. But she keeps pushing me. She-”
“When you’re out of the hospital.” Eleanor cut her off firmly. “When you’re discharged, we’ll deal with her. But you can’t let your stitches open again.”
Hilda nodded along. “Iris, sweetheart, your health is what matters right now. You need to focus on recovering.”
Iris‘ voice turned bitter. “How am I supposed to recover when Lillian won’t stop coming for me? She won’t let me go.“”
“She won’t let me go.” Those words landed hard. Eleanor and Hilda exchanged glances, their anger sharpening.
In just two days, Lillian had turned the entire city upside down.
Hilda’s gaze shifted to Agnes, who had been standing silently by the door. “Agnes. You’ve always gotten along with her. Why don’t you talk to Lillian? Reason with her?”
At that, Eleanor and Iris both turned to look at her,
Agnes‘ expression was unreadable. Cold. When Hilda finished speaking, she fixed her mother with a look that could freeze water
Eleanor stepped forward. “She’s right, Agnes. You should talk to her. Persuade her to stop all this.”
Agnes‘ voice was quiet. “In all of this–everything that’s happened do you honestly believe Lillian is the only one to blame?”
The three of them stared at her.
Hilda sputtered. “No, Agnes, that’s not-”
Agnes cut her off. “Iris. The day before yesterday, while Julian was standing outside that delivery room waiting for your pups to be born, Lillian was alone. Bleeding. Going through an abortion procedure by herself”
Eleanor and Iris went still.
