Eleanor trembled with rage. “Me? You’re calling me the bad one? Look at what she’s done!

“Iris just had a C–section. She has a fresh incision across her stomach, and these past two days it’s torn open repeatedly because of

her.”

Agnes snapped back without hesitation. “What exactly did Lillian do? Julian stood by Iris while she gave birth. Meanwhile, Lillian’s own baby is gone. What was she supposed to do–just keep smiling while you all tore her apart?

“How have you treated her these past six months? If it were me, I would’ve ripped every single one of you to shreds by now.”

“You–you…” Eleanor felt lightheaded, the blood draining from her face. “I already told you-”

Agnes cut her off. “You said her surgery photos were fake. Fake.

“Two days ago at that hospital–how pale she was, how broken. Did none of you even notice?”

Eleanor fell silent.

The elevator arrived.

Furious, Agnes shook off her mother’s grip and stepped inside.

Eleanor called after her, “Wait, you-”

That girl was going to be the death of her.

Agnes‘ gaze was ice. “You treated her like garbage after she lost her pup. Whatever she’s doing to Iris now? She’s not the one to blame.”

Eleanor had no comeback.

The elevator doors slid shut.

Eleanor stood frozen in the hallway, startled by Agnes‘ words about Lillian’s miscarriage. But guilt? No. She felt none.

In fact, she dismissed the thought almost immediately.

“Honestly. She was never even pregnant. How could she have miscarried?”

Muttering to herself, she turned and walked back to the hospital room.

Inside, Iris was growing more and more agitated. Worried her incision would tear again, Eleanor had no choice but to call the nurse to administer a sedative.

Once Iris had finally quieted down, Hilda asked, “Well? Did you convince Agnes to talk to Lillian?”

Eleanor glanced at Iris, whose eyes had fluttered closed under the sedative’s effect. Not sure how to answer, her expression tightened.

Just thinking about her own daughter made her blood boil.

Finally, she spat out angrily, “That bitch Lillian… I’ll deal with her myself once Iris is discharged.”

She’d already forgotten everything Agnes had just said about Lillian’s miscarriage.

Julian appeared in the doorway just in time to catch Eleanor’s venomous words.

His face darkened instantly.

“And how exactly do you plan to ‘deal with her“?”

She sidestepped his question, pivoting to the crisis at hand.

It wasn’t just Iris anymore. The entire Graves Pack and all its affiliated companies were getting dragged through the mud.

If the media fire wasn’t extinguished before Margaret landed, Margaret would take matters into her own hands.

And everyone in Gilneas City knew exactly how ruthless Margaret could be, especially when she operated in the shadows.

If pushed too far, Lillian would pay the price.

After leaving the Graves Pack building, Lillian went straight to the biotech company.

George brought her lunch.

Chloe, hearing Lillian was there, joined her. “With a brother like Edmund, I don’t know why you’re pushing yourself so hard You’re supposed to be resting right now.”

Lillian shook her head. “I feel fine. Really.”
