Lillian said, “He didn’t believe me. He actually questioned me–asked why I would fake a miscarriage photo just to hurt Iris.”
By the time she got the words out, there was almost no emotion left in her voice.
If this had happened a while back, she probably would’ve been devastated. But now… it didn’t faze her at all.
Chloe, on the other hand, was so pissed she nearly slammed her fist through the table.
“That bastard. What the hell has Iris done to him? He used to treat you like you were everything.”
Julian really had been incredible to Lillian once. The kind of good where she felt like she was the center of his world.
But over the past six months, the things he’d done for Iris? Downright cruel. Inhumane.
Like every moment he’d ever shared with Lillian had been erased.
Lillian shrugged. “Honestly, who cares what she did to him? If he wants to stay under her spell for the rest of his life, that’s his problem. Doesn’t involve me anymore.”
There was no sadness in her tone–just a calm, almost detached indifference.
Hearing that, Chloe finally relaxed.
Lillian’s POV:
After lunch, Chloe headed out.
ended up staying at the biotech company the rest of the afternoon. I didn’t pack up until everyone else had already started iltering out of the office.
Just as I was about to get up, my assistant Sophia walked in with a file folder. “Boss, this just came from Mr. Livingston.”
From Finn.
took the folder, opened it, and pulled out the contents.
t was evidence–proof that Iris had plagiarized my work.
flipped through the pages. One was a photo of me sitting on the hillside at Moonvale Eco–Community, holding a nearly finished sketch in my hands.
That sketch just so happened to be the original design blueprint for the Moonvale Eco Community project–the one that had been getting so much media attention lately.
The photo was taken three years ago, back in October, when the red leaves in the valley were at their peak.
He’d actually managed to get a photo this clear… this damning.
Behind it was a cropped surveillance screenshot showing Iris walking into the City Planning Department with my blueprint.

The timestamp was clearly visible.
I’d assumed the evidence Finn mentioned would be something like audio recordings. Maybe a few scattered screenshots.
I never expected it to be this thorough.
And there was more–plenty more.
I slid the papers back into the folder. “Where’s Mr. Livingston now?”
Sophia shook her head. “I’m not sure. Paul dropped the file off.”
I thought for a moment, then pulled the documents back out. I photographed every single page and uploaded copies to my email.
Then I locked the originals in the safe.
“We’re done for the day.”
I stood up.
Just as I reached the door, I turned back to Sophia. “Send me Mr. Livingston’s number.”
Evidence that solid deserved at least a thank–you.
After leaving the biotech company, I crossed the plaza and spotted Julian’s matte–black G–Wagon parked in the distance.
George was already there too, pulled up right behind Julian.
The moment he saw me step out, George opened the car door for me with quiet respect.
Third–Person POV:
Julian’s gaze locked onto the Phantom. His mind flashed back to the intel Thomas had sent him.
Now, seeing this Draenei man standing there–it all clicked. Finn and Lillian’s connection ran deeper than he’d thought.
Rage surged through him like wildfire. What the hell was Finn playing at?
Sending someone to wait on Lillian hand and foot like this.
His jaw tightened as he shot Lillian a cold, warning glare–daring her, right in front of her own Alpha mate, to climb into another male’s car.
But she actually did it.
Right in front of him. Step by step, she walked toward that Phantom.
Fury boiling over, Julian stormed forward and grabbed her arm just as she was about to get in.
George reached out and intercepted. “Alpha Julian.”
“Get your hands off me.”

Julian shoved George’s arm away and yanked Lillian toward his own car.
But George came at him again.
Lillian’s voice cut through sharp and steady. “George, go back. Now.”
George stopped mid–motion. He gave a short nod. “Yes.”
Lillian didn’t say another word.
The tension between her and Julian–it needed to end. Avoiding him wouldn’t fix anything.

George looked at her for a long moment, like he wanted to say something but held back.

Lillian understood. Her brother had power back in the Western Continent. A lot of it. But this was Gilneas City.
Her mate bond with Julian? That wasn’t something Edmund could touch.
Julian shoved Lillian into his car.
The engine roared, and the needle on the speedometer maxed out.
Lillian had always been prone to carsickness. Within five minutes, the reckless speed had her head spinning and stomach churning.
Furious at his carelessness, she swung her hand and slapped him across the face.
The car slowed instantly.
He pulled over to the shoulder. Lillian shoved the door open and threw up on the grass.
Julian dragged a hand through his hair, frustration burning in his chest. He grabbed a bottle of water and got out, holding it out to
ner.
She knocked it out of his hand. The cap was already off, and water spilled everywhere, soaking into the grass.
His face went dark, but he turned back to the car and grabbed another bottle.
When he turned around, he saw Lillian pulling her own water bottle out of her bag. She rinsed her mouth, then started walking down the road without a single glance back.
These days, Lillian gave Julian nothing but ice,
Seeing her like this only stoked the fire in his chest.
He climbed back in, pulled up beside her, and rolled down the window. “Get in.”
She ignored him and kept walking.
Jaw tight, Julian got out, grabbed her, and pushed her back into the passenger seat.
This time, he drove slow. Steady.
He took her straight back to Inkwood Gardens.
