Chapter 58 Drenched and Bloodied
Third–Person POV:
Eleanor’s finger trembled as she pointed it at Lillian. “You… You… You absolute-”
For a moment, she couldn’t even find the words to curse her.
She was shaking with rage, her eyes practically shooting flames up at Lillian.
Lillian folded her arms. “Guess your mouth’s clean enough now?”
Eleanor was so furious she nearly passed out.

Luckily, Hilda caught her from behind. Seeing her own mother treated like this, Hilda’s glare at Lillian burned with hatred. “You bitch. You’ve gone too far.”
“Ah!”
The second the words left Hilda’s mouth, something came flying at her–connecting square with her face.
The pain made her clap her hands over her mouth instinctively.
But then she felt something wet… sticky…
Blood.
Hilda pulled her hands away to look.
When she saw her palms smeared red, her pupils contracted in shock. She screamed, “Ah-!”
Eleanor, who’d been about to lunge up and unleash on Lillian, jolted at Hilda’s sudden shriek.
When she saw the deep gash on Hilda’s face gushing blood, her breath caught in her throat.
“Blood, Mom, my face, my face…”
Hilda touched her face again, and the wound burned at the contact.
Blood was already streaming down her cheek, dripping onto her neck…
The warm, metallic scent of it hung in the air.
Eleanor’s gaze whipped furiously from Lillian to Julian, whose face had gone dark with anger.
Finally, her eyes landed on the bloodstained ashtray lying on the floor.
Eleanor stammered, “Julian, you… you…”
Julian pressed his lips into a thin line, grabbed his phone from the table, and called for an ambulance to come get them.
Eleanor’s vision swam with rage. “Hilda is your sister! How could you hit her like that—for some outsider?”

Her voice shook with venom, every word soaked in resentment toward Lillian.
Julian’s eyes narrowed. “Lillian is my mate. She’s only an outsider to you.
“Since your mouth never learned to show her respect, maybe it’s better off ruined.”
Disrespecting Lillian was disrespecting him.
Eleanor and Hilda fell silent.
At the cold ruthlessness in Julian’s voice, Hilda’s expression went rigid.
Then she turned to Eleanor, tears streaming. “Mom…”
Hilda was terrified by Julian’s demeanor, tears rolling down her cheeks.
As they mixed with the wound, the salt burned even worse.
Eleanor, seeing Hilda’s face soaked in blood, felt her heart crack.

“Julian, you’ve gone too far! A female’s face is everything! What kind of brother are you?! You’re absolutely out of your mind…”
Now Hilda’s face was a mess of blood, and Eleanor was drenched in freezing water.
They’d come to confront Lillian, but in the end, when the ambulance arrived to take Hilda away, Eleanor left with her.
The living room was left in shambles.
Julian looked up toward the railing–Lillian was gone. He glanced at the wreckage in the living room and let out a frustrated sigh.
He headed upstairs.
Just as he reached for the bedroom door, he found it locked.
This little Omega–she’d already dumped a basin of water on his mother, and she still wasn’t satisfied?
He grabbed the spare key, unlocked the door, and stepped inside to find Lillian already asleep.
He slid into bed from the other side and pulled her small body against his. Lillian felt cold to the touch.
So he simply opened his robe and wrapped it around her.
Lillian stirred, trying to pull away, but the man murmured softly, “Shh. Sleep.”
He was exhausted too.
Lillian had expected Julian to come up and confront her–after all, she’d just drenched his mother in ice water.
She’d figured if he wanted to start something, fine.
She was too tired tonight anyway. She’d spent the whole day at the biotech lab and was completely drained.
Since he wasn’t making a fuss, she couldn’t be bothered to engage.

Julian held her close for half the night but still felt Lillian’s body was cool, even though the house was climate–controlled.
