Chapter 60 A Life for a Life
Third–Person POV:
Lillian sat on the sofa, casually examining her neatly trimmed nails.
Her detached, almost indifferent demeanor only fueled Julian’s rage further.
Through gritted teeth, he demanded, “You already sent those files to the people behind those accounts, didn’t you?”
They’d been together since last night.
He hadn’t heard her make a single call to arrange anything.

The only explanation was that she’d packaged up that material and sent it to the people manipulating the public opinion long ago.
Yesterday, she’d said she would release details about her car accident from two years ago…
And today, it actually happened.
Even with him watching her, he still couldn’t stop it?
‘So last night, you were perfectly calm staying at Inkwood Gardens just to keep an eye on me for Iris?”
Lillian raised an eyebrow, her eyes brimming with undisguised mockery.
Julian pressed his lips into a thin line. “Something that happened two years ago… and you drag it up now? You want to make sure nobody walks away from this unscathed?”
“Yes,” Lillian replied flatly. “Is Iris already struggling? This is just the beginning. There’s a long way to go.”
Julian asked, “What else are you planning?”
Lillian said, “Plenty.”
Everything Iris had ever done to her–she wanted to pay it back twofold.
Wasn’t Iris so impressive?
That day at the hospital, Iris had acted all high and mighty, treating her like an ant beneath her heel.
Well, now she’d have to live with the consequences of not crushing that ant for good.
Julian was livid at Lillian’s attitude. “You’ve lived in Gilneas City long enough. Don’t you know what her mother’s like?
“After what happened last night, you really think Finn was helping you? He’s trying to get you killed.”
The thought of Margaret definitely scheming in the shadows made Julian’s blood boil.
Lillian picked up the glass of water in front of her and took a sip.
When Julian mentioned Finn’s name, she went completely silent.

And that silence only cemented Julian’s suspicion that something was going on between her and Finn.
Julian was breathing heavily, absolutely furious.
“Tell me what you’re planning next. I’ll handle it for you. Don’t go looking for Finn or anyone else.
“If you want to burn the world down, I’ll burn it down…”
Better that than having her ask another Alpha for help.
Hearing this, Lillian’s eyebrow arched slightly.
Julian roared, “Well? How far do you need to go before you’re willing to stop?
“I’ll help you tear it all down. Once and for all.”
Julian couldn’t contain his rage; he was practically losing his mind.
Lillian was driving him insane.
To him, she’d become completely unreasonable now.
Anything involving Iris, and she lost it.
Their eyes locked.
Under the man’s intense, suffocating gaze, Lillian’s lips curled into a faint smile.
Slowly and deliberately, she said, “I want half of Iris‘ life. Will you tear this whole world apart for me?”
Both of her pups were gone because of Iris.
Asking for half of Iris‘ life wasn’t too much, was it?
The air went still.
Julian, who’d been seething moments ago, now watched Lillian in silence, his lips pressed tightly together.

Faced with his silence, Lillian let out a soft, mocking laugh. “No heavens to move, then? I thought you said you’d help me tear it all down.”
Her demand was half a life.
So he wouldn’t do it?
Julian forced down the fire raging in his chest. “If you want half her life… you’ve already got it.
“She was just pulled out of the river. She came out of the emergency room not long ago and she’s still unconscious.”
So… that counted as half a life.
Julian asked, “Is that enough for you to stop?”
Lillian stared at him without answering.

“Half a life. Stop. I hope you meant what you said earlier.” With that, Julian turned and strode coldly toward the door.
From the look of it, he was heading to the hospital.
Lillian called after him, “You said earlier you wouldn’t leave for Iris anymore, right?”
What about now?
Julian glanced back at Lillian, meeting the smile on her lips.

His eyes were icy, drained of all warmth. In the end, he said nothing, grabbed his undamaged phone, and walked out without looking back.
The second Julian was gone, Helen approached.
She said quietly, “Luna, the Alpha really does care about you. That awful–tasting medicinal broth–he got up early to make that for you.”
Lillian’s POV:
The moment I heard Julian made it, I wanted to throw it right back up.
Ignoring Helen’s words, I stood to leave–my biotech company had been keeping me busy lately.
But after just two steps, something felt wrong…
Just as I was about to look down, Helen gasped in alarm, “Luna, you–you’re bleeding so much!”
The spot on the sofa where I’d been sitting was stained too.
I’d been so focused on arguing with Julian that I hadn’t noticed at all.
Now, I could only feel warm liquid streaming steadily down my legs.
My vision started to blur at the edges.
Helen quickly helped me sit back down and immediately tried calling Julian.
But call after call, Julian didn’t pick up.
Sitting on the sofa, feeling the blood flow beneath me, I dialed for an ambulance myself.
Julian wasn’t answering.
Helen was frantic. Finally, on the fifth try, Julian answered.
