In the hospital room, Julian sat on a chair off to the side.
Iris had been changed into fresh clothes and was awake now, her hair still damp and dripping.
Eleanor hadn’t stopped crying. “She’s trying to kill Iris, I swear it. Three days in a row now. Where did she even learn to manipulate the media like this?”
That morning, the truth about the car accident from two years ago–when Lillian lost her cub–had exploded across every platform.
Just as Lillian had predicted, once the people of Gilneas City saw those reports, they immediately turned on Iris with vicious personal attacks.
Juliah hadn’t shown his face at all.
It drove Iris so insane she’d jumped straight into the river–finally forcing Julian to come.
Eleanor glared at him. “When are you going to shut down all this gossip for good? Or are you just going to let her keep acting out like this?”
Eleanor was completely livid. Right now, she wished Lillian was dead.
Julian glanced irritably at his phone–Helen was calling again.
This Lillian… She was really getting addicted to causing trouble.
He hung up angrily and powered the phone off.
Eleanor kept going. “I’ve tried to be patient, but tell me–how am I supposed to keep tolerating this?
“Everything she does, step by step, is designed to drive someone to their grave. How can anyone put up with that?”
Julian shoved his switched–off phone into his pocket.
A vague, restless unease stirred in his chest, but he forced it down.
Back at Inkwood Gardens.
Margaret wouldn’t let the ambulance crew inside and had her people restrain Helen as well.
Looking at Lillian lying on the sofa, Margaret’s eyes were filled with venomous ice,
Her entire presence radiated dominance and danger.
Walking toward Helen, she spoke to Lillian on the couch, “How much blood do you think a person has to lose before they die?”
Lillian’s
eyes narrowed slightly. “You won’t get to find out.”

The moment she finished speaking, she stomped hard on Helen’s back. Helen was elderly; the pain made her gasp sharply.
Lillian’s gaze turned razor–sharp.
Margaret sneered. “How many times has this old woman called Julian? And did he come back? No.
“If you can’t even tell who the real Luna is, what use are you?”
Helen was too old to struggle free under the weight.
Margaret pressed down harder, then glanced back at Lillian. “You could bleed out here today, and he still wouldn’t come back.”
“Let her go,” Lillian said coldly.
Margaret laughed mockingly. “Want to protect her? You can barely protect yourself right now.”
Then she lifted her foot from Helen’s back.
With a look of disdain, she walked back to the armchair beside Lillian and sat down. “Marrying for love… How romantic.”
“You–of all things to believe in, you had to believe in love among wolf nobility. Tch…”
Margaret’s tone was glacial.
And with that coldness, she made it clear to Lillian–today, she was determined to watch Lillian die right here.
Lillian didn’t respond.
Seeing her indifferent expression, Margaret said, “I gave you a chance before. You were the one who didn’t know what was good for you. So-”
Just then, another wave of chaos erupted outside–this time much louder than before.
Margaret got up and walked to the floor–to–ceiling window to look.
Outside, a large group had arrived, and her people were being overpowered quickly.
Finn and Victor were there too.
The Draenei at the front were especially ruthless—a few shots took down several of her men.
Margaret’s face went completely pale.
She turned back, glaring venomously at Lillian.
The door burst open with a bang. Finn and Victor rushed in. Margaret lunged forward, grabbed a fruit knife, and stabbed toward
Lillian-
But the next second, a sharp pain ripped through her wrist….
“Hiss-”

As her wrist was slashed open, the knife she’d just grabbed clattered uselessly to the floor.
Margaret’s jeweled hand quickly clutched her bleeding wrist.
She glared coldly at Finn. “Finn. So you really are helping her. Why?”
Finn shot Margaret an icy glance.
The man radiated intimidating pressure. He didn’t answer her at all–after one look, he turned away in disgust.
Finn walked over to Lillian. Seeing her lying on the sofa, he asked, “How are you doing?”
“I need to get to a hospital. Now.”
Just then, George rushed in.
