Chapter 65 Terms for Freedom
Third–Person POV:
Finn fell silent.
Victor looked at him. “Finn, you’re not actually… with Lillian…”
He didn’t finish the sentence.

Forget Julian suspecting Finn had feelings for Lillian–even after Finn had said he supported Julian and Lillian separating, Victor was starting to have doubts now.
Finn didn’t answer. He only gave Victor a deep, unreadable look.
Chloe came out of the hospital room, saying she was going to get some food for Lillian.
Once Chloe left, Finn and Victor turned and entered the room together.
Seeing Finn and Victor come in, Lillian managed a weak smile.
“Thank you both for today.”
She hadn’t expected Finn and Victor to show up at Inkwood Gardens at that exact moment.
Victor said, “Don’t thank me. It was Finn who called and told me Margaret had gone to see you.”
Mentioning Finn, Lillian looked at him, even more puzzled about how he’d known Margaret had come for her.
Finn glanced at the time on his wristwatch. “I’ll send a few guards over.”
“No need.”
Victor said, “How can you say no need? Margaret’s acting like a complete lunatic right now.”
It was better to be careful at a time like this.
Lillian glanced at Victor but didn’t speak.
Victor said to Finn, “Send a few more.”
Finn shot Victor a look, his deep eyes carrying an indescribable, slightly oppressive weight.
Victor shivered under that gaze.
“Uh, right… I’ll go see what drinks I can get for you.”
Since when did Finn’s eyes get so sharp? It was seriously unnerving.
Victor quickly made an excuse and slipped out.

Chapter 65 Terms for Freedom
Once it was just Finn and me left in the hospital room, Finn took a seat in the chair beside my bed.
“I had the family’s private chef prepare some food suitable for you right now.”
Hearing “food“, my expression immediately stiffened.
From what Helen had said, that bowl of tonic soup this morning had been made by Julian himself.
And after I’d been resuscitated, the doctor had kept asking what I’d eaten.
The gist of it was that I shouldn’t have anything blood–nourishing for the next few days.
The heavy bleeding today had been largely caused by that soup.
“No, actually-”

Finn stated, “Your brother grew up in Western Continent. He wouldn’t know what you should eat, and he isn’t that meticulous.”
He cut me off before I could finish, and his words-“your brother grew up in Western Continent“-truly shocked me.
I stared at Finn in disbelief, completely surprised this Alpha knew so much.
My breath hitched for a moment.
But then Finn looked up at me. “Ethan’s pup will likely be Julian’s responsibility for life.”
He didn’t spell it out, but the meaning was clear: as long as Julian couldn’t let go of Ethan’s pup, he’d be tied to Iris forever.
I lowered my eyes and replied softly, “I know.”
Over the past six months, every time Iris had used the pup to summon Julian–and he’d gone every single time.
I knew that if I stayed with Julian, I’d never escape the shadow of Iris and her pup.
Finn suggested, “You can dissolve the mating bond with him first.”
Hearing this, I looked up at Finn, confused.
Finn continued, “Agree to any condition he proposes for now.”
Any condition from Julian?
Lately, any condition he’d brought up was sure to involve me letting Iris off the hook.
Right…
If I agreed to spare Iris, he’d definitely sign the dissolution papers, wouldn’t he?
It suddenly made sense.
“Finn, thank you.”
Finn stood up and checked his wristwatch. “Get some rest.”

With that, he turned and headed for the door.

Just as he reached it, he seemed to remember something and glanced back at me.
“If there’s anything in Gilneas City your brother can’t handle for you, call me.”
My expression froze for a second.
Before I could react, Finn was gone.
Right after Finn left, George arrived.
I looked at George. “When can I leave the hospital?”
The smell of antiseptic was hard to take.
George’s expression tightened slightly before he answered respectfully, “The medical wing at Starfall Mountain is ready. You can go straight there to recuperate once you’re discharged.
“But Mr. Langley said you’re not to return to work for a while.”
I replied, “Today was an accident. I ate the wrong thing.”
“Mr. Langley is very worried about you,” George said.
His meaning was clear–Edmund wasn’t interested in excuses.
From the moment I’d been admitted today, I’d known I probably wouldn’t be going out for the next week. George would definitely follow my brother’s orders and make sure I recovered properly.
“What about Margaret?”
George reported, “As you instructed, just a small lesson–enough to leave her with the energy to hear the noon results.”
Noon was when her real “gift” would arrive.
I nodded. “Good. I’m looking forward to seeing how she reacts when she gets the news at noon.”
Just as George was about to say more, my phone buzzed loudly.
It was an unknown number.
I answered, “Hello.”
“You had someone attack Margaret?”
Julian’s voice, simmering with anger, came through the line.
I frowned. After just a moment, I hung up.
Right now, giving Julian even a single word in reply felt utterly unnecessary.
