Chapter 66 The Cruel Truth
Third–Person POV:
Victor got a call and had to rush back to the office.
He wanted to go tell Lillian, but he ran into Finn instead. Finn told him not to bother going back upstairs.
His attitude made it pretty clear he didn’t want Victor seeing Lillian alone.
Victor was confused. “If we both leave, will Lillian be okay?”
“Her people are here.”
Well, her people…
As for Lillian right now, Margaret had really picked a fight with the wrong person, one blow after another.
Who knows, the backlash might already be on its way.
As the two of them reached the lobby, they heard Julian on the phone. He was saying into the receiver, “Lillian, what the hell are you trying to do? Do you have any idea what you’re doing?”
This Julian–for Margaret’s sake–was actually questioning Lillian, who had just suffered a major hemorrhage?
Victor instantly felt like this guy was past saving…
Finn shot a cold glance at Julian’s back. Victor looked at Finn.
He moved his lips, wanting to say something.
But Finn had already looked away from Julian and walked off without turning back.
Victor called out, “Finn, you…”
Wasn’t he going to say something to Julian? This was completely out of line.
Before Victor could finish, all he got was Finn’s retreating back.
Fuming, Victor ran a hand through his hair.
Over by the phone, Julian had been hung up on again. He turned around, seething with anger.
Instantly, their eyes met.
Julian’s face darkened.
Victor stepped forward. “Were you just questioning Lillian about Margaret getting hurt?”
Julian’s expression was icy. He only gave Victor a look before turning to leave.
That was it–Victor couldn’t take it anymore.

He grabbed Julian’s arm. “Do you really not want Lillian anymore?”
Julian was already furious.
Hearing Victor’s words, his gaze turned frigid.
“Let go.”
Julian spat out the two words coldly.
Victor said, “You going against Lillian over Iris is one thing, but now you’re questioning Lillian because of Iris‘ mother?
“Have you lost your mind?”

At that moment, Victor completely understood what Finn had meant that night when he’d said, “I support you ending the mating bond.”
In Victor’s eyes, Finn had already seen enough.
And how, he’d seen enough too.
Julian looked coldly at Victor. “Do you even know what she did?”
Victor asked, “Then tell me. What did she do?”
By now, Victor’s temper was starting to fray.
Had things really gotten to the point where he didn’t even know what was going on?
Julian said, “At a time like this, she not only revealed that the car accident two years ago–the one that made her lose her pup–was deliberately caused by Iris, but she also attacked Iris‘ mother. Margaret is still in the hospital.”
Just talking about it made Julian’s anger flare again.
The public opinion, it had been going on for three days straight…
Getting worse each day.
Now, whether it was Iris‘ reputation or Margaret’s, or even the entire Graves Pack’s–everyone’s dignity was being ground into the dirt by her.
And today, she’d sent Margaret to the hospital….
Victor tightened his grip on Julian’s arm. “She hit Margaret? Did Margaret tell you what she did to Lillian first?
“That night, I didn’t understand why Finn supported you two splitting up. Now I get it. I support Lillian leaving you too. She shouldn’t have you.”
“You-”
Julian was so angry his temples were throbbing.
Victor spoke, “Your own mate was hemorrhaging badly. An ambulance was called–and Margaret stopped it outside Inkwood Gardens, refusing to let them in to save her. If Finn and I hadn’t shown up today, she would’ve died right there.

“And you’re blaming her for hitting Margaret? If you ask me, she should’ve just killed Margaret.”
Victor was livid.
When Julian heard this, his mind went blank with a buzz.
His pupils constricted as he stared at Victor in disbelief. “What did you say?”
“I said, I support you two splitting up too. Why don’t you spend the rest of your life with Iris and stop torturing Lillian?”
With that, Victor turned and stormed off.
The pressure on Julian’s arm vanished, and now his entire body ran cold.
He breathed raggedly, barely able to believe what he’d just heard.
Victor left in a rage.

I stood there for who knows how long, then shakily pulled out my phone and opened the call log.
Only then did I see that Helen had called me many times, along with the head of the security team.
Helen, Victor, even Thomas had all sent messages.
I opened one of them.

“Julian, what’s going on? Margaret going to see Lillian now can’t mean anything good. How could you turn your phone off?”
Thomas sent, “Alpha, something’s happened to Luna. Please call back as soon as you turn your phone on.”
Helen sent, “Alpha, Mrs. Hayes has brought people to Inkwood Gardens to see Luna. She won’t let the ambulance through. You need to come back now.”
Messages. Calls.
Even through the screen, I could feel the suffocating pressure.
And what had I just done…
I could barely feel myself breathing. I directly dialed Inkwood Gardens‘ number.
Helen picked up. “Hello, Inkwood Gardens speaking.”
“It’s me,” I said, voice strained.
Hearing it was me, Helen immediately sounded frantic. “Alpha?”
“What exactly happened at Inkwood Gardens carlier?”
“Luna was losing so much blood. I called you, but you…” Helen trailed off, unable to continue
