Chapter 67 A Broken She–Wolf
Julian’s POV:
I remembered the call Helen had made to me not long after I’d left.
What had I said back then, when Helen told me over the phone that Lillian was bleeding heavily?
I’d said, “Did Lillian put you up to this?”
I pinched the bridge of my aching nose.

Helen said, “Later we called an ambulance, but Mrs. Hayes came and wouldn’t let the paramedics in to help Luna. She said a lot of vicious things too.
“Alpha, you almost got Luna killed today.”
Helen choked up as she explained what happened next.
The gist of it was that everything had been chaotic at the time.
If it hadn’t been for Finn and Victor showing up, Lillian might have died at Inkwood Gardens today.
Before hanging up, Helen sighed. “Luna’s been upset lately, and with you shutting your phone off all day, she probably won’t forgive you.”
All the warmth seemed to drain from my blood at that moment.
I asked, “Why was she bleeding?”
Helen replied, “Luna just lost the pup. It might have been because of that tonic you made for her this morning–it was too strong.”
She lost the pup… She really lost the pup?
For a moment, my mind went blank, buzzing with static.
In the end, I didn’t even know how I ended the call with Helen.
And me… What had I just done?
When Iris had cried in front of me, saying, “Julian, it’s not that I’m being petty, but Lillian is too much.
“She can make my life miserable all she wants, but why go after my mom? My mom never did anything to her.”
Iris had been sobbing like a child then.
And what had I done next? After turning my phone back on, I hadn’t read a single message or returned any of the missed calls.
Instead, I’d immediately called Lillian to confront her.
Margaret had almost taken her life today.
And because of Margaret, I’d called and accused Lillian…?

My breathing grew ragged.
One thought raced through my mind. The only reason Margaret had ended up in the hospital was because she’d gone to Inkwood Gardens to harm Lillian.
In an instant, a dangerous energy radiated from my entire being.
Since Finn and Victor were both at this hospital, I was certain Lillian was here too.
Just as I was about to search room by room, I saw Chloe enter one of the rooms and followed her directly.
There were four guards posted outside the door.
As I moved to enter, two of them stepped forward, blocking my path.
“Move,” I snarled, my aura dominant and threatening.
Lillian was inside the room.
Third–Person POV:
George and Chloe were both present. Hearing Julian’s voice, Chloe’s expression darkened.
George said grimly, “Alpha Julian, please leave.”
Lillian spoke up, “Let him in.”
Chloe asked, “Why do you want to see him?”
After everything that had happened today, Chloe was still furious. In her opinion, it would be better if Lillian didn’t see Julian at all.
Lillian replied, “We haven’t dissolved the mating bond yet.”
The mating bond.
To Lillian now, those words felt like a shackle Julian had locked around her.
Once, she had entered this bond willingly.
But now… She wanted to break free from this restraint as soon as possible.
George said, “Regarding the dissolution, you can file a legal case. Mr. Langley has already arranged a lawyer for you.”
Chloe nodded in agreement. “Yes, take it to court directly.”
Someone like Julian-
He could keep tangling with Iris however he wanted.
Lillian asked, “Go straight to court, and then if he refuses to dissolve the bond, we just keep dragging it out?”
That was the frustrating part.
When it came to dissolving a mating bond, if one party refused to agree, even a court battle could drag on endlessly

Chloe fell silent.
Right. In Gilneas City, as long as Julian refused, even the best lawyer would have a hard time getting this mating bond dissolved.
Finally, Chloe stood up and left the room with George.
Julian’s POV:
I walked into the hospital room.
Looking at Lillian lying pale in the hospital bed, an IV needle was taped to the back of her hand.
It looked like she would need fluids for several days.
Seeing Lillian like this, a phrase flashed through my mind: a broken little she–wolf.
Broken…
In my heart, I’d always believed I’d taken good care of Lillian.
I’d given her the best of everything.
But now…
I sat down in the chair beside her bed and instinctively reached for Lillian’s‘ hand.
But she pulled away, leaving my hand grasping empty air.
