Chapter 85 Cooking for Her
Third–Person POV:

Lillian had said those words deliberately, right in front of Julian–she wanted him to see clearly exactly what he’d done.
Julian’s headache pounded harder.
He wanted things to go back to the way they used to be with Lillian. Back to the days when she was so easy, so well–behaved.
He pulled her into his arms. “Alright. No more half–measures. I’ll make it for myself, okay?”
He’d cook for her. With his own hands.
In Julian’s mind, that was about as far as he could go to smooth things over.
He’d comforted Lillian before, plenty of times. But he’d never gone this far–never actually cooked for her.
Right now, he just wanted her to calm down. Fast.
But Lillian was long past being soothed by his scraps of effort, and she wasn’t nearly as easy to settle anymore.
When Julian tried to coax her, her voice turned even sharper. “You’ll cook for me yourself? And then what? Send me to the hospital with another bowl of soup?”
The mention of the hospital–the very place she’d ended up this morning–dropped the whole room into dead silence.
Lillian pushed his arms away. “Just stop. Don’t bother doing anything.”
She hadn’t wanted to come back to Inkwood Gardens in the first place.
And now, finding out the nutritionist was Catherine’s doing too? It made the entire Graves Pack feel even more suffocating.
Julian said, “Just lie down and rest. I’ll go make you something to eat.”
He dodged responding to her digs. Every word out of her mouth these days felt like a weight
on his chest.

He got ups, grabbed a thick blanket from the guest room downstairs, draped it over Lillian, and headed for the kitchen.
The moment he stepped inside, his phone, still sitting on the coffee table, started ringing. Thomas
Julian heard it from the kitchen, leaned out with wet hands, and called to Lillian, “Can you grab that for me?”
He thought maybe this small gesture–letting her answer his phone–would show her he had nothing to hide. Not from her.
Lillian picked up the phone and answered.
Before she could get a word out, Thomas‘ voice came through the line. “Alpha, Hilda signed everything else, but she’s refusing to sign the transfer papers for Inkwood Gardens.”
Lillian’s eyes flicked to Julian, who was walking out of the kitchen drying his hands. A mocking smile tugged at her lips.
She tossed the phone to him without a word.
Julian caught it, saw it was Thomas, and brought it to his ear. “What?”
“Hilda won’t sign off on Inkwood Gardens. She says she’s too attached to the place.”
Julian’s face went dark.
He glanced at Lillian stretched out on the sofa, then stepped away to continue the conversation.
“Is she out of her mind?”
This was the house he’d bought when he and Lillian first mated. What business did Hilda have being attached to it?
Thomas answered carefully. “She took the documents with her.”
He paused, then added, “She’s probably still upset about what happened last night.”
When Thomas had gone to get Hilda’s signature earlier, he’d noticed the marks on her face.
Females cared about appearances. Hilda was clearly furious–and no doubt blaming Lillian for
all of it.

Julian’s voice was flat. “Tell her if she doesn’t transfer Inkwood Gardens back to Lillian’s name, she won’t see another dime from me.”
Thomas went silent for a beat. “Yes, Alpha.”
Julian continued, ice in his tone. “Freeze every single one of her accounts.”
There was no mistaking the rage underneath the words. He meant every last one.
Thomas acknowledged. “Understood.”
Julian ended the call and walked back to Lillian.
Their eyes met. Lillian’s lips curved into that same sharp, cutting smile. “Does it bother you?”
Julian didn’t answer.
Lillian went on, her voice light, almost conversational. “No, wait–she’s your blood sister. Having the house in her name probably doesn’t bother you at all.
“She’s just trying to get under my skin.”
She let out a cold, hollow laugh.
Julian’s jaw tightened. “She just likes the house. Don’t read too much into it.”
“Right. I’m reading too much into things. Iris caused me to lose my pup–I probably imagined that. I wanted one so badly I hallucinated the whole pregnancy.
“Hilda, your mother, your grandmother–they took everything you gave me. Not because they wanted to take it, but because they just liked it all too much.”
Lillian’s voice stayed calm as she said it. Almost cheerful.
But that calm, that faint smile–it sent a chill straight through Julian’s bones.
Her words had turned into weapons now. Sharp as blades. And no matter what he said, they cut deep.
Julian didn’t argue. He just reached out and ruffled her hair, gentle.
