Third Person POV:
Julian had just stepped into the kitchen when his phone rang.

Whatever was said on the other end, he hung up and immediately turned off the stove.
He pulled off his apron, washed his hands quickly, and hurried out.
Seeing Lillian awake on the couch, he came over and dropped to one knee beside her.
His hands were still slightly damp when he reached out and touched her cheek. “Helen will make you something to eat. I’ll be back soon.”
Lillian looked at him, her expression calm but edged with something sharp. She said nothing.
Julian couldn’t take that look. “I’m sorry. I’ll be as fast as I can, okay?”
His voice was soft, coaxing.
He sounded like he was asking permission, but his mind was already made up.
His phone buzzed again.
Julian glanced at the screen and declined the call instantly. But in that split second, Lillian caught the name–Iris.
She stared at his face–that striking face that had turned heads all over Gilneas City–and her smile widened.
“Iris again?”
She didn’t just say “again“. She made sure the word landed like a blade.
Julian brushed his thumb across her cheek. “It’s about the pup. Not about her.”
“But it’s her pup, isn’t it?”
Julian exhaled slowly. “Lillian…”
The hostility in her voice when she talked about that pup made him pause. He didn’t know
what to say.

He opened his month, then senled on. “You haven’t been well lately. Just rest here. I’ll find the best healer to help you get better, alright?”
Lillian’s eyes narrowed. “What are you saying?”
“We’ll have our own pup. Together.”
Her voice went cold. “So not only do you believe I was never pregnant, now you believe I can’t get pregnant at all?”
The room went still.
Julian stared at her, his breath catching. Something in his chest twisted.
“How did you-
How did she know what the healer had told him?
“Did you talk to her? The healer? What did she say to you?” Julian’s voice came out rougher than he intended.
The healer. The one who’d been treating Lillian recently.
Lillian answered coolly. “What could she possibly say? Only that someone paid her to tell you I was never carrying a pup. And to make sure you believed I’d never be able to conceive. Not
ever.”
Her tone was light, almost amused. Like she was telling a joke that wasn’t funny.
Julian’s expression darkened.
She watched him take it in and raised an eyebrow. “What? You don’t believe me?”
He believed the healer.
But he wouldn’t believe her when she said someone had paid to make him believe it.
Julian pulled his hand back from her face and stood.
Looking down at her now, the helplessness from moments ago was gone. Something colder
had settled over his features.
Lillian saw it and laughed. Careless. Dismissive.
“You should go. The pup’s mother seems to be on the verge of death every other day. Show up

late and the pup might lose half its life too.”
Julian’s voice snapped. “Lillian!”
The way she talked about that baby–his control finally cracked.
That’s a newborn pup.”
Lillian shrugged. “Then I hope the pup lives a long and healthy life.”
The way she said it…

He couldn’t. He couldn’t listen to another word. She’d drive him insane if she kept talking like that.
Julian turned and stormed toward the door.
At the threshold, he stopped and looked back at her.
“I’ll ask Finn for leave. You’re not leaving this house for a while.
“Thomas will be here soon. Everything will be transferred back to your name. And whatever needs to stop–it stops.”
He hit the words “needs to stop” hard.
Then he was gone, the door slamming behind him.
Helen crept closer, hesitant. “Luna… what would you like for dinner?”
Lillian’s voice was flat. “Nothing.”
She wouldn’t eat here. Not one meal.
She’d said it before–not a single bite of anything from the Graves Pack would pass her lips. And she meant it.
The doorbell rang.
Helen glanced toward the entrance. “I’ll see who it is.”
Lillian nodded slightly.
Helen walked over, checked the intercom screen, and turned back. “Luna, it’s Marcus. From Margaret’s side.”
