Chapter 88 Margaret Bows
Third Person POV:
Marcus feh the sting of her words, but he kept his face neutral.
Lillian continued, “So let me get this straight. She wants to talk, and I’m supposed to drag myself to the hospital?
I don’t need anything from her. Why would I go running at her beck and call?”
Marcus expression tightened again.
She might not need anything from Margaret, but Margaret sure as hell needed something from her.
Marcus knew full well that Lillian was fully aware of Margaret’s condition–she’d been there when it happened. She was saying this deliberately.
Still, he swallowed his pride and forced the words out. “Margaret can’t move right now. She’s bedridden.”
“Then she actually expects me to come to her?” Lillian let out a short laugh. “Does she not know I had a major hemorrhage this morning? She’s the reason I’m in this condition, and now she wants me to waste more time and delay my recovery?”
Marcus was caught completely off guard by how fast Lillian’s mind worked.
He’d spent years navigating high society, rubbing shoulders with the most powerful families, but right now he was struggling to keep up.
“Lillian, please don’t upset yourself. In your condition, you really shouldn’t get worked up.”
Lillian shot him another look.
That look made something in his chest tighten. He pressed on. “Just tell us what you want. Margaret said she’ll give you anything you ask for.”
Lillian went quiet.
So that was it. They’d come to negotiate.
But what should she do?

Lillian smiled at him
She really hadn’t hit that match
Bur Marcus was trying to get her to confess, and Lillian understood comctly why
exactly
Sure enough, the second she denied it, his expression darkened even further
Watching his face shift, Lillian added, “What? Trying to pin it on me first? Still looking for a way to blame me for a crime?
“That’s a lot of effort, isn’t it? I’ve spent the last few years as nothing but an Omega living off the Graves Pack’s charity. How would I ever dare commit arson?”
Marcus had no comeback.
She didn’t dare? Everything pointed back to her.
And what was that about living off pack charity?
She’d moved out of Graves Estate the second she bonded with Julian.
And look at what she’d done in just the last few days.
With a temper like hers, did she really seem like someone who lived under anyone’s thumb? The entire pack was in shambles because of her.

Chapter 88 Margaret Bow
As knew all of this
He just couldn’t say it out loud
So be allowed his frustration again and said, “Lillian, Margaret wants to handle this reasonably
Je name your price. She’ll meet all your demands.”
Lillian tilted her head. So now she wants to be reasonable?”
Marcus stayed silent.
Lillian went on. “Tell her to put that same energy into dealing with me that she had when she tried to help her daughter steal my mate.”
Marcus‘ face turned even darker.
Ever since Ethan passed, Margaret had wanted Iris to end up with Julian.
They’d benefited plenty from the Graves Pack over the years.
Margaret wasn’t about to let that connection just… disappear.
But hearing Lillian spell it out like that made it sound especially ugly.
Marcus straightened. “Lillian, with that attitude, it doesn’t sound like you want to resolve this.”
Lillian shot back, “She thinks she can come at me whenever she wants, and then switch to playing nice when it suits her? She’s dreaming.”
The last two words landed cold and sharp.
Marcus‘ face hardened completely.
“Then it seems there’s nothing left to say to you.”
He’d dealt with powerful people his whole life, but Lillian’s attitude had finally pushed him past his limit.
He stood, smoothed the wrinkles from his suit jacket, gave her one last threatening look, and walked out.
The door slammed shut behind him.
