“Grandma, why don’t you just give me the money now? I’ll hide somewhere far away and never bother you again!”
Seeing that Zera refused to listen, Natasha angrily yanked her hand away.
“I used to think you acted out because you’d suffered too much, but now I see you’re just rotten to the core. You killed someone and still dream of escaping punishment. You really feel no remorse at all!” Natasha scolded.
Zera’s expression twisted into madness. “There it is again–that superior, preachy tone!”
She struggled to her feet and pointed at Natasha, teeth clenched. “All of you look down on me. Every single one of you thinks you have the right to lecture me. What do you people think I am?”
Natasha pointed at Zera, her shaking hand full of fury. “You-!”
Zera slapped her hand away. “You old hag. If I hadn’t donated a kidney to you, would you even be alive right now?”
Natasha never expected Zera to insult her like that. Her whole body trembled with anger. “Zera, I am your grandmother. How can you talk to me that way?”
Zera laughed hysterically. “Grandmother? You call yourself that, yet you let them throw me out of the Hills! If I hadn’t been kicked out, I wouldn’t have gone begging to that old Caldwell witch, and none of this would’ve happened!”
Her eyes were bloodshot as she spoke slowly and deliberately. “I came here because I had nowhere left to go, and you tell me to surrender? You say you’ll give me money after I get out of prison? You old hag, do you even think you’ll live that long?”
Natasha nearly fainted from rage. Her hands shook as she reached for the phone beside her cushion.
Anna’s eyes narrowed. As Natasha tried to call the police, she threw herself forward and snatched the phone away.
“Zera, this old hag’s phone has to be linked to her bank accounts–fingerprint, face ID, everything. We need to transfer the money out right now,” Anna warned.
Hearing that, Zera immediately snapped back into clarity.
The two of them worked together to pin Natasha down. Using Natasha’s fingerprint, Zera easily unlocked the phone.

“Mom, we don’t need to make it complicated. I already know this old hag’s bank password,” Zera said.
The night she returned to the Hill Estate, Natasha had transferred her a first sum of money, and Zera secretly memorized the password.
She hadn’t expected it to come in handy so soon
Anna kept one hand clamped over Natasha’s mouth and urged, “Zera, hurry. Transfer every cent this old hag has into my offshore account.”
Natasha was old and no match for the two of them.
Hearing the endless string of transaction notifications from her phone, Natasha became both furious and panicked.
Just then, Natasha’s phone suddenly received a call.
Startled, Zera threw the phone away instantly.
Clatter!
The phone slid across the floor, landing right in front of Natasha.
No matter how Natasha struggled, Anna held her down with all her strength, keeping her mouth covered so she couldn’t make a sound.
Right then, footsteps sounded outside the door.
Anna shot Zera a sharp look.
Zera scrambled to grab the phone, turned it off, killed the lights, and pulled out the dagger she had prepared beforehand, pressing the blade to Natasha’s neck.
She hissed, “If you let anyone come in, you die.”
A voice came from outside. “Mrs. Natasha, are you alright?”
cold blade pressed against her neck, Natasha called out to the person outside, “I’m fine. I’m just resting.”
Feeling the
The footsteps faded, and the room fell silent for a long moment.
Using the faint moonlight from outside, Zera switched Natasha’s phone back on, greedy to transfer even more money.
Natasha spoke to the mother and daughter. “Zer, for the sake of you being my youngest

son’s only flesh and blood, take the money in the phone. Consider it yours. Whether you manage to leave here alive… that depends on your own fate.”
Zera shot Natasha a vicious glare. “Shut up, you old witch!”
Staring at the two women crouched in front of her, coiled like venomous snakes, Natasha suddenly changed her mind.
People like them would only bring disaster wherever they went.
She couldn’t let them walk away so easily.
The longer Anna stayed, the more uneasy she felt.
“Zera, that’s enough. If we don’t go now, we won’t make it out,” Anna urged.
Zera stuffed Natasha’s phone into her pocket. “Mom, let’s go!”
The lock screen was already disabled.
Once they found a safe place, she planned to drain every last cent from Natasha’s accounts.
Just as Anna stood up, Natasha grabbed Zera’s leg with surprising strength. “Somebody— help!”
Panicking, Anna grabbed a heavy candleholder and smashed it down onto Natasha’s head.
Warm blood streamed down Natasha’s face, yet she clung desperately to Zera’s leg, refusing to let go.
Earlier at noon, her son and three grandsons had come to the abbey, urging her to return home, and warning her that Zera might come looking for her.
