Even the guest list was carefully checked, one name at a time.
Aella’s
parents were escorted throughout the event by Daniel’s parents themselves.

The engagement ceremony was grand beyond compare. Every detail was flawless. The Reids were given full respect and dignity.
Aella was surrounded by wealthy ladies and their daughters. When she spotted Brad and Raine walking toward her from a distance, she lifted her skirt slightly and went to greet them.
Brad gently sent Raine away and spoke to Aella alone.
“Even though this isn’t the right place to say this,” Brad said quietly, “I still want to ask you something.”
He watched her face closely. “Even if things are impossible with Tyrone, are you sure Daniel is the right one?”
Aella understood what Brad was worried about.
They had grown up together.
Brad had seen how deeply she once loved Tyrone.
Now she had suddenly turned and stepped into another man’s arms. Brad thought she might be acting out of anger.
To him, her breakup with Tyrone felt sudden and confusing. Her relationship with Daniel felt just as sudden.
Others might not understand, but she and Tyrone knew the truth.
She had lived two lifetimes. She knew exactly what kind of man Daniel was.
This time, she was sure she had chosen right.
Daniel walked over and greeted Brad.
His eyes were gentle and bright as he looked at Aella. “The engagement ceremony is about to begin.”
Aella smiled and slipped her arm through Daniel’s.

Brad offered his blessing. “Congratulations to you both.”
Standing behind the crowd, Brad watched as Aella walked down the red carpet with Daniel. When she listened to Daniel’s vows and burst into tears, Brad let out a silent sigh.
Tyrone was completely out of the picture now.
At the same time, in a hotel suite overseas.
Tyrone stared at the screen. Aella was wearing a stunning gown, holding Daniel’s arm, and smiling with pure happiness. His heart felt like it was being twisted tight.
His eyes did not move from the screen.
The roses on the island were beautiful. The couple embracing and kissing looked like a perfect painting.
Tyrone’s lashes trembled hard. Large tears fell onto the screen, slowly blurring the image.
This time, she had truly married the right man.
His voice caught in his throat. He tried again and again, but he could not force out the words “congratulations.”
A knock sounded behind him. Tyrone quickly pulled himself together. “Come in.”
Noel entered and placed a jewelry box on the table. “Mr. Winter, we got it back.”
As an overworked employee, Noel truly couldn’t understand it. That pink diamond ring had been massive. It had been cut apart and remade into a bracelet–just like that.
Tyrone opened the box. Inside was a platinum bracelet set with pink diamonds.
Those diamonds came from the same priceless pink diamond ring Tyrone had once used to propose to Aella on the island.
One rare diamond had been cut into many smaller stones.
Tyrone closed the box. “Make the arrangements,” he said calmly. “We’re going back in three days.”
A few days later, in Vleka.

At dusk, Tyrone walked out of the company building surrounded by staff. From a distance, he saw Aella waiting at the entrance.
Noel recognized her at once. He saw Tyrone stop; he quickly made an excuse and led everyone else away.
Tyrone’s gaze settled on her face. “Why didn’t you call me before coming?”
Aella shook her head. “I just arrived. I was about to message you to see if you were free.
Tyrone glanced at Noel, then said, “I just finished work.”
Aella smiled. “That’s perfect. I wanted to invite you to dinner.”
Tyrone looked past her. “Your fiancé didn’t come?”
She explained, “Dan has a very important surgery. He couldn’t make it.”
About 40 minutes later, they arrived at a nearby restaurant.
“You can have a drink if you want,” Aella said lightly. “You can always call a driver.”
Tyrone tightened his grip on the menu.
She looked at him with a gentle smile, but the warmth she once had for him was gone.
It had only been a few days, yet she treated him naturally, just like she did with Brad. Her smile was sweet. She could be gentle or playful.
In her eyes, he was an older brother now. Nothing more.
A dull pain spread in his chest. The corners of Tyrone’s eyes turned faintly red as he forced a stiff smile.
He had dreamed countless times of getting back together with Aella.
He had imagined bringing her home again and again.
Every time he woke up, the pain would rush back, cutting into his heart.
But he had never imagined this outcome. He had never imagined becoming her brother.
Aella suddenly grew serious. “Tyrone, thank you,” she said. “Thank you for speaking up for Dan in front of Clyde.”
