Cassandra kept her head down, guilt written all over her face. “I, um… my period just started.”
Aella didn’t think twice about it. “Then go easy on the drinks. We’ll head out early.”
Aella and Cassandra went back to the table together.
Before long, Cassandra said her stomach was killing her and asked Aella to leave with her.
Once they were outside the Regal Club, Aella saw how much pain Cassandra was in and insisted on taking her to the hospital.
But Cassandra said this happened every time she got her period and that she’d be fine once she got home and took some ibuprofen.
Cassandra clung to Aella’s arm, doubled over in pain. “Aella, it really hurts. Can you take me home?”
Aella glanced at the time on her phone and hesitated for a moment.
Cassandra said, “If it’s too much trouble, don’t worry about it.”

The second those words left her mouth, Cassandra crumpled to the ground in pain.
Aella quickly pulled her back up. “Hang in there. Let me call a cab.”
She and Cassandra had been in the same class since their first day of college, and they always went to the dining hall together- even if Cassandra only brought an apple from home, she’d split it in half with Aella.
In Aella’s heart, Cassandra had long since become a real friend.
When a friend asked for help, doing something this small was the least she could do.
Close to 11 p.m., the cab pulled up in front of a standalone villa near the outskirts of town.
Aella stepped out and looked around, something nagging at her. “Cassandra, I don’t think this is where you live, is it?”
She’d been so busy taking care of Cassandra during the ride that she hadn’t even noticed they’d driven all the way out to the
suburbs.
Cassandra kept her head low, guilt flickering in her eyes.
“My dad cheated and took every cent my family had. He listened to his side chick and beat my mom, then kicked me, my mom, and
brothers out of the villa we had in the city.”

Before Cassandra could even finish, Aella cut in, furious on her behalf. “Your dad is absolute scum!”
Aella assumed Cassandra was just upset and embarrassed.
She didn’t overthink it and helped Cassandra through the front door.

Chapter 654 The Wrong House
Inside the living room, Aella looked around the spacious room and realized nobody else was home.
Aella asked, “Cassandra, your mom and your brothers aren’t here?”

Cassandra scrambled for an answer. “My mom’s still in the hospital from her injuries. My grandma came and picked up my
brothers.”
Aella nodded, figuring that made sense.
When a woman got cheated on and beaten by her husband, her family was usually the first to step in.
Cassandra glanced down at a new message on her phone, then looked up at Aella.
“Aella, thanks for bringing me home. My stomach’s really killing me. Could you go into the kitchen and make me some honey tea?”
Aella agreed without a second thought. “You go rest. I’ll make it for you.”
Aella headed into the kitchen and started looking for honey while pulling out her phone to send her location to her mother, Miriam.
This far out in the suburbs, cabs were hard to come by–she’d need to have the family driver come pick her up.
But she was so focused on finding the honey that she didn’t notice the location had actually been sent to Virginia’s phone instead.
Cassandra watched Aella moving around the kitchen, and guilt tore through her chest. “I’m sorry, Aella.”
With tears brimming in her eyes, Cassandra quietly slipped out of the living room.
The moment she stepped through the front door and saw Jenny, Cassandra hurried to wipe her tears.
Jenny put on a syrupy–sweet voice. “Once Aella and I make up, I’ll take you out for dinner.”
Cassandra hesitated, asking one more time. “You really just want to apologize to Aella?”
Jenny smiled. “What else would I do? This is my place, and I’m the only one here. Even if I wanted to start something, you really think I could take Aella in a fight with this body?”
Cassandra looked at Jenny’s small frame and figured she had a point.
Besides, she hadn’t seen anyone else in the house when she was inside.
Cassandra believed her and got into the car Jenny had arranged for her.
Jenny watched the car pull away, then lazily pulled out her phone. “Zach, she’s here. The package is delivered.”
