Serena was shaken to the core by Liam’s words; they hurt her to the bone. What did Eliana do to him?she wondered, her anger reaching its peak.

Once Liam was asleep, she was going to go and give Dylan a piece of her mind.

Her voice trembled as she said, Liam, this is your home now. No one’s ever going to keep you locked up again. The garden out front is huge. You can play there every day. You’re free to go upstairs and downstairs and move around anywhere, except for places that are dangerous. And if there’s anything you want to learn, just let me know and I’ll help you.”

Liam was so excited. Mom, can you let me learn computers? I watch videos every day and I’ve learned so much, even how to gather evidence. I also want to learn how to fight, so when I grow up, I can take down bad guys and protect you.”

Serena felt a wave of warmth and her heart ached for him. She smiled at him, full of love. Of course, baby. But you’re still a bit young. When you’re older, I’ll let you learn. For now, stay with me, and I’ll be here as you grow up, alright?

Okay!Liam relaxed, and his smile grew wider.

Dinner was a real spread, and Liam had never been this happy at dinner before.

He could eat as much as he wanted, and his mom didn’t mind at all. Everything on the table was his favorite, and he’d never had such a satisfying meal before. Once he was full, he was ready to crash.

Serena carried him to his room and tucked him in. After giving Bennett a few instructions, she headed out with Chris.

She went straight to the room she and Dylan used to share.

The villa was ablaze with lights, every corner bright and clear.

Dylan sat alone on the couch, pain twisting inside him. The truth was just too much for him to handle right now.

He’d messed up beyond belief. If he’d only believed Stella, even just once, things wouldn’t have ended up like this.

Now he wanted to find Stella out and beg for her forgiveness, but he didn’t even know where to start. After she left, he was completely in the dark about where she’d gone.

He stood up, frustration etched across his face, his usually straight posture now weighed down by defeat.

Suddenly, the villa’s front door swung open.

Dylan saw Stella walk in, wearing a pink loungewear set that hugged her curves just enough to make his heart race.

Seeing her, a smile tugged at his lips before he could even stop it.

Her presence was like bright sunlight melting away the snow of a long, cold winter. It was like a rush of cool relief poured into his anxious heart, and in the darkness, he finally saw a glimmer of hope.

Stella, you’re back, he said, unable to hide the excitement in his voice.

Stella stormed over, furning, and gave him a hard slap right across the face.

Smack!

Dylan just stared at her, totally stunned.
