Serena got even angrier at his apology. She jumped to her feet and gave him a cold, hard stare.

“Dylan, from now on, I hope I never have anything to do with you again. I hope I never see you. And, you’re the worst dad ever. Your own son got hurt, and you didn’t even blame the person who did it,” she said coldly.

She’d thought Dylan would at least have Eliana thrown in jail.

But she was kidding herself. There was no way Dylan would ever let Eliana end up behind bars.

Serena let out a bitter, self–deprecating laugh. “I really was overthinking it. You’d rather throw billions just to protect the Lamberts. There’s no way you’d send the woman you love to jail for a child born to someone you don’t even care about.”

Stella left the villa, not bothering to explain herself and leaving all the explanations to Dylan.

Dylan’s body was taut, the hard lines of his muscles showing through his thin shirt. His arms trembled ever so slightly.

Stella just couldn’t believe him. But the truth was, he truly didn’t know anything about the kid.

Was Eliana really the woman he loved?

When he saw Eliana get hurt, he felt nothing at all. But when Stella started crying, it tore him up inside.

He wanted to explain, but Stella didn’t even let him get a word in. He wanted to tell her that Eliana’s daughter wasn’t his, and that he’d never slept with Eliana.

He let out a bitter laugh. ‘What’s the point?‘ he thought.

Stella would never believe him anyway.

Dylan sat down, numb and lost. His face burned with pain, the lingering heat of her slap still clinging to his skin. His fingers lingered over the spot, reluctant to let go, his mind a tangle of emotions he couldn’t resolve.

After letting it all out at Dylan, Serena felt way lighter as she headed home.

When she got home, Serena hurried upstairs and gently opened the door. Liam had just woken up and wanted some water.

Serena quickly walked over and whispered, “Sweetie, do you need to use the bathroom or do you want some water?

Liam, eyes still closed and clearly sleepy, mumbled, ‘Mom, I want some water, but I want to sleep with you even more. Is that okay?

‘Of course, sweetie. I’ll get you some water first, then I’ll come right back, Serena said, happily kissing his forehead before handing him his water bottle so he could drink.

She went to the bathroom, freshened up quickly, and returned to the bedroom

It was the first time mother and son had ever snuggled up like this, and Serena’s heart turned soft and fuzzy with happiness.

Chapter 139

Serena’s long lashes fluttered, a wave of warmth flooding through her whole body.

“Sweetie, I missed you so much too,” she whispered, her voice soft and full of love.

Just thinking about all the pain he’d gone through these past few years broke her heart.

“Hehe… Mom, I’m sleepy. I’m gonna go to sleep now,” Liam mumbled, his voice soft and sleepy. He hadn’t slept at all last night on the balcony, and with his injuries, he was completely worn out.

Serena gently patted him. “Okay, sweetie. Don’t be scared. Mom will always be here with you. Just go to sleep, alright?”

For the first time, Liam truly believed his mom would always be there for him. He closed his eyes, feeling safe and content, and drifted off to sleep.

Serena gazed at his adorable little face. At first glance, he was the spitting image of Dylan, but when she looked closer, his chin and mouth were unmistakably hers.

Serena just didn’t want to fall asleep. She lay there, watching him sleep, until exhaustion finally took over and her eyes drifted shut.

They both slept in until eleven in the morning.

Liam squinted at the blinding sunlight pouring in through the window, then glanced at his mom lying next to him. A huge grin spread across his face, his eyes still a bit puffy from all the tears. “This isn’t a dream,‘ he thought, heart pounding with joy. ‘I’m really back with Mom now!‘

Just then, Serena’s phone buzzed. She blinked awake, checked on Liam, then reached for her phone. It was Yolanda calling.

“Hey, Yolanda.” Serena said.

Yolanda’s voice was tight with nerves. “Ms. Hale, we’ve got trouble!”
