In that moment, Dylan was overwhelmed by a fierce, possessive longing. He wished it was him sitting across from Stella.
His gaze was like a predator lurking in the night, hungry to possess Stella again–the woman who once belonged to him.
But as he thought about his failing health, and the idea of Liam someday calling Spencer “Dad,” a reckless, powerful urge welled up inside him. He wanted to fight for his life.
Dylan watched Stella laugh, her smile radiant and unrestrained. With him, she was always reserved, never with such abandon. ‘Is Spencer really the man she loves?‘ Dylan wondered, doubt gnawing at his heart.
His eyes stung, red with emotion, as he glanced over one last time–and quietly slipped away.
‘I don’t even deserve to be Liam’s father,‘ he thought, a wave of self–loathing crashing over him.
As the elevator doors slid shut, Stella’s stunning features filled his mind, every detail growing sharper and more vivid.
Miles glanced at him, but in the end, he said nothing.
‘And tonight, we’re meeting the partner… Miles thought, his mind racing.
Just as he was lost in thought, the elevator doors slid open.
Miles led Dylan into the private room.
As they entered the private room, Dylan found his father, Nolan, already waiting for him. His brows knitted slightly.
He shot Miles a questioning look, and Miles quickly explained, “Mr. Ashford, you and your father have been avoiding each other for a while. He Mr. Hale asked me to bring you here. After all, you’re family. You should talk.”
Dylan took a deep breath, stepped forward, and sat down across from his father.
Nolan looked at his son, remembering the paternity test he’d done years ago. Dylan really was his own son, but…
He didn’t want to think about it any further. He looked at Dylan and said, “Dylan, let’s talk for a bit?”
Dylan’s eyes were cold, his smile careless. “About what?”
Nolan said, “Let’s talk about us. I know I’ve let you down these past few years. I didn’t leave for any other reason. It was all for our family’s future. My business overseas has been doing well, and now I want you to take over, to help us get through this crisis. But you have to promise me one thing. You’ve already poured billions into Stella. It’s time to stop now.”
That’s why Nolan wanted to see Dylan today.
The Ashford family was Nolan’s life’s work. He would never let it fall apart.
“I don’t need you to do that,” Dylan said, his voice flat. “I’ve only got six months left After that, you’ll have to take care of the company again.” Deep down, he was grateful Nolan had come back to help him now,
“You’re not going to die!” Nolan said, his tone unwavering.
Dylan gave a cold laugh. “You’re not a doctor”
“No, I’m not a doctor,” Nolan said, his voice steady. “But I know Stella won’t let you die. Back then, she fought tooth and nail to save you, did everything she could because you were the only one in her heart. She went through hell to bring you back.

Do you really think she’d just stand by and watch you die now?”
As for the full story, that’s something Dylan would have to figure out on his own.
