Nolan looked at Dylan’s naive look and couldn’t help but think, ‘My son really is a lot like I was back in my youth.

Dylan was impossibly handsome, charming and unruly, and just as passionate as Nolan had been in his younger days.

As Nolan watched him, he felt as if he was seeing a shadow of his beloved in Dylan.

Nolan’s emotions instantly turned complicated and restless.

On closer look, Dylan really did remind Nolan of the woman he once loved.

His eyes flashed with emotion, but before he could say anything, Dylan’s excited voice cut him off.

“Dad, say that again. Stella likes me? She’s totally crazy about me?” Dylan blurted out, his voice bursting with excitement.

Nolan just nodded. “Yeah. Otherwise, why would she go to such lengths to help you?”

Dylan felt disappointment wash over him.

He let out a disappointed laugh. “It’s not like that. She’s only helping me because I saved her back then.”

“Seriously? No wonder you keep getting totally played by girls. Can’t you even tell who you actually have feelings for? Be honest with yourself, do you really care about Eliana?” Nolan said.

“Do you feel your heart skip a beat when you see her?” Nolan pressed.

As Nolan mulled over his suspicion, he suddenly stood up and yanked out a strand of Dylan’s hair, snapping Dylan out of his thoughts.

Dylan stared at him, baffled. “Why’d you pull my hair?”

“I need to test something. If I’m right, I’ll have to carry this guilt for the rest of my life,” Nolan said, his tone grim.

“Maybe I’m just as clueless as you,” Nolan muttered.

With that, Nolan left, holding Dylan’s hair.

Dylan just stood there.

As Nolan walked away, he didn’t notice a suspicious figure lurking in the shadows.

Dylan frowned, thinking, ‘What’s he want with my hair? Is he getting a paternity test? Does Dad seriously think I’m not his real son?’

Dylan scoffed, thinking, ‘Dad has never once made me feel warm inside. He has only made me feel disappointed every

time.

Dylan ordered some food and ate quietly, focusing on his meal. With just half a year left to live, he found himself treasuring every moment now. The excitement from before had already turned into disappointment.

He forced a bitter smile. ‘Was I really wishing Stella would fall for me?‘ he thought.

Dylan asked Miles to come in, and the two of them shared dinner together before heading out.

After heading downstairs, Stella, Spencer, and Liam had finished their dinner and left the restaurant together, all smiles.

Spencer had Liam in his arms, and together, they looked every bit the picture of a happy family.

Dylan watched from afar, a suffocating sense of loneliness gripping his heart.

Miles grinned and said, “Mr. Ashford, Ms. Hale and Spencer really seem like a good match.”

‘Gotta mess with Dylan a little, or he’ll regret it for the rest of his life. But after everything that happened with Liam, I doubt Stella will ever forgive him. Even at his age, Liam already knows how to play his dad, Miles mused.

Dylan cast Miles a chilly look, his lips pressed into a thin line. He couldn’t take his eyes off Stella, watching her every step.

When they reached the car, Spencer smiled and said, “Serena, let me give you a ride home.”

Stella shook her head gently. “Spencer, that’s really sweet, but you’ve been so busy lately. Don’t worry about us. Just take care of your work. We can catch up when you’re less swamped.”

Spencer had been crazy busy this year. Ever since teaming up with Cloudmere Group, production went through the roof, and he was really running himself ragged just to keep the quality up.

He even had two international meetings scheduled for tonight. But all he wanted was to be by her side.

“Maybe another day, we can all take Liam to the amusement park together,” Spencer said with a smile.

Spencer smiled warmly at Liam. “Liam, would you like to go to the amusement park with me?”

Liam had never been to an amusement park before. He’d seen other kids playing in ball pits on short videos and was dying to try it himself.

“Mom, can I go just once?” Liam asked, looking up at her with big, hopeful eyes.

Serena gently tapped his nose, her gaze full of affection. “Of course, sweetie. When Uncle Spencer has some free time, we’ll all go together.”

“Yay! Okay!” Liam cheered, his face lighting up as he planted a big kiss on Serena’s cheek.

Serena’s smile was so dazzling, it could outshine the whole night sky.

After Serena got into the car with Liam and left, Dylan walked over to Spencer.

Spencer didn’t seem surprised at all when he saw Dylan. He just flashed a grin and said, “You caught all that just now, huh, Dylan?”
