Spencer crossed his arms, a wicked smile playing on his lips. The image of Stella’s pale, stunningly beautiful face flashed in

his mind.

He had always thought highly of the girl. It was Dylan who didn’t know how to cherish her.

An observer would often see a person’s worth more clearly. Spencer thought that Stella had given Dylan everything, holding nothing back.

Spencer said flatly, You’re too late. She already left. She was moving crates over there earlier, but she didn’t leave the premises. She went into the bar.

Dylan looked where Spencer pointed, but saw nothing. He was determined to see Stella today. He turned and strode toward the bar entrance.

Seeing his urgency, Spencer merely smiled with deeper meaning and followed.

It was still early; the bar was nearly empty.

After inspecting the liquor, Serena had Chris send samples for lab testing. Only hard evidence could deliver the decisive

blow.

The bar manager was taking kickbacks. The supplier was providing counterfeit alcohol. It took two to tango. There had to be collusion, and she needed proof.

Serena had been gone for four years. Edwin had entrusted operations to subordinates, which inevitably allowed some to exploit loopholes. That was why she had come personally to investigate today.

The manager and the supplier were meeting tonight. Everything was arranged. Serena then contacted Vivian to ask her to recommend a skilled mixologist.

The current bartenders at Kismet Bar were subpar, and Serena had known that for a while.

Vivian was thrilled her bestie was focusing on her career. Darling, I’ll introduce you to a handsome, toptier mixologist tomorrow. His annual salary is steep, but the drinks he crafts are phenomenal and quite famous.

Serena knew Vivian could handle it. Thanks, Vivian! Dinner is on me tomorrow night.

Vivian laughed. Perfect! You need to spend more time with me these days. I’m not feeling greatI’m on my period.”

Serena couldn’t help but smile. Alright, Vivian. See you tomorrow.

Vivian hurriedly added, Oh, and Serena, you’re not fully healed yet. You’re so thin a strong breeze could knock you over. Don’t push yourself. Rest. The company spun without you for four years, didn’t it?

The implication was clear: the world kept turning.

Serena was speechless. The weight of her responsibility was immense. She had run from it for four years, and it hadn’t brought her peace, but only exhaustion.

Now that she was back, many messes awaited her cleanup.

Vivian, I understand. I’m much better now.Serena ended the call with a smile.

Just as she slipped her phone into her bag, a dark shadow blocked her path.

Serena lifted her eyes to glance at him. Dylan was as dazzlingly handsome as ever, though his eyes now held a trace of urgent desperation.

A mocking smile touched her lips. Dylan, are you disappointed I’m not dead?

Dylan’s breath hitched. He didn’t understand why she would say that.
