Autumn had set in, and the morning breeze was tinged with a chill. The villa community was peaceful, shrouded in a gentle morning mist.
Unlike the bustling, impersonal business district, this place felt like a slice of paradise, where your heart could finally settle down and find some peace.
The backyard was lined with beautiful ornamental trees.
Serena stood in the morning breeze, her eyes drifting toward the old tree not far away. She smiled and said, “I’ve finally moved on.”
‘This time, I really mean it, Serena thought to herself.
She’d lost herself over that man. It nearly cost her her life.
All she got in return were scars, but she gave it her all, wanting to be the light in his world. But he never wanted her to be.
Serena had truly put him first, letting him become a part of her very being. Trying to cut him out of her heart was pure agony, like tearing herself apart.
The man Serena loved most ended up hurting her more than anyone else ever could.
He saved her once, and she loved him for a lifetime.
Back then, Serena thought, ‘If I could, I’d trade all the riches of my life just to see him live out his days in peace.
Serena gave her best years to a love that burned bright and wild.
Serena thought she had him, that he was hers. But in the end, he never truly belonged to her.
“Vivian, you know, letting go of someone you love is really hard. I truly loved him, but he never knew.
“Do you know what the furthest distance between two people is? It’s loving someone with all your heart, and they have no idea,” Serena said softly.
Vivian paused, seeing the pain in Serena’s eyes, misted with unshed tears. Her heart ached even more for her. “Serena, you’ve chased after him for so many years.
“I know it’s not easy for you to let him go, but knowing you, even if you never forget him, you’ll never go back to him.”
It was because Vivian understood Serena so well that her heart ached for her even more.
Vivian looked at the broken light in Serena’s eyes. Serena used to be so free–spirited, but now, there was a part of her heart that lay in ruins.
“Serena, if you’ve truly loved, there’s never any regret. From now on, you need to live your best life and love yourself fiercely.
“Honestly, there’s nothing you can’t do. You’re good at everything. I always wonder, what kind of man could ever measure up to you?” Vivian said gently,
Vivian really admired how talented Serena was.
“You’re amazing too, Vivian,” Serena laughed softly, looping her arm through Vivian’s.
“Absolutely, we’re both awesome,” Vivian said, leaning against Serena as they both grinned at Liam having fun in the ball pit.

Chapter 158
Liam was totally content, playing by himself and being such a well–behaved kid.
“Vivian, let’s go play with Liam for a bit,” Serena suggested.
Just having her son close was enough to heal every ache inside.
“Sure.” Vivian kicked off her high heels, and the two of them joined Liam in the ball pit.
Now that Serena and Vivian were with him, Liam was having the time of his life.
They spent the whole morning playing with Liam, and Vivian only headed out after having lunch at Serena’s.

Elsewhere, the Kismet Bar incident that everyone had been talking about finally got an answer.
The police department posted a video on its official website.
It turned out that the whole thing was Galvin’s setup.
Greg had a serious heart problem, but Greg’s father didn’t want to spend money on treatment. So Galvin cooked up a scheme and told Greg’s father to get some cash out of it.
Even though Greg’s father knew Greg couldn’t drink, he still dragged him to the bar. After they got home, Greg had a sudden heart attack and died because no one got him help in time.
The video showed a group of men carrying the body into the restroom at Kismet Bar late at night, along with another clip of Galvin’s crew deliberately staging a car accident on the way to snatch the evidence.
The confessions from the suspects they arrested all made it clear. Galvin was behind it all.
Galvin was caught while he was on the run.
With the truth finally out, everyone was shocked and couldn’t help but sigh at the tragedy. ‘Who could imagine a father so heartless he’d stoop to exploiting his own son’s death just for money?‘ people thought.
When Serena saw Chris’s message, a cold glint flashed in her eyes. ‘Jasper really is a sly old fox. He’s managed to slip away yet again, she thought.
