From Divorced Wife To The Top Heiress novel Chapter 18

Seeing the anguish on Serena’s face, Dylan felt a pang of pity. After all, his original intention in marrying her had not been to hurt her.

Stella,Dylan said, voice low, it was Eliana who saved me back then. Her body was badly damaged from the donation. That’s why she went abroad for treatment. Both Grandfather and you have misunderstood her.”

Every word he spoke felt like a knife driven deep into Serena’s heart. She never imagined Eliana could stoop so low, even stealing the credit for saving a life.

Serena laughed then, a bitter and desolate sound. Dylan would rather live in a lie than believe a single word she said. She had clung to him pathetically in his world, only to be met with even more ruthless insults and contempt.

Serena swayed slightly on her feet, her eyes dim and lifeless. Steadying herself, she spoke in a low, weary voice. Dylan, all these years, I owe you nothing. It is you who owes me. When you finally learn the truth, I wonder if you’ll regret every cruel word you’ve said to me, and if you’ll ever be able to face our child who is gone.

Serena had nothing left to say. Turning away, she walked off, her spirit utterly broken.

Dylan remained where he was, a deep frown etching his features. His intense gaze followed Serena until she disappeared from his sight.

Serena’s reaction and her raw pain stirred something deep within Dylan’s usually calm heart. He doubted that maybe there were things about the past he didn’t know.

Back when Dylan first woke up, Beatrice had told him it was Eliana who saved him. She said Eliana had suffered serious complications and had to go abroad for treatment. Dylan had believed it. He waited for Eliana to return, clinging to the hope in her letters.

But then Jacob insisted Dylan marry and cut all ties with Eliana. Dylan refused to give up. He was determined to wait for Eliana. Her letters were his only light in the darkness.

As a last resort, Dylan entered into a marriage of convenience with Serena. It was just an arrangement, a temporary pact until Eliana came back. Then he would divorce Serena. A paper marriage wouldn’t hurt Eliana.

Dylan remembered that back then, Serena had also mentioned having someone she liked. So apart from those two times when he lost control after drinking, he had never crossed the line with her.

But even those two incidents had hurt her deeply, which was why he offered compensation when they divorced. Yet no amount of money could ever match the help she had given him over the years.

Now, seeing that 12 inches scar on Serena’s body, a deep, restless panic gripped Dylan. It felt as if something precious was slipping away forever.

Stella!A sharp cry echoed from downstairs.

Dylan looked down just in time to see Serena collapse. In an instant, Spencer swept her into his arms and swiftly carried her out of the bar.

Stella!Dylan rushed after them, blocking Spencer’s path. Spencer, hand her over. I’ll take her to the hospital

Spencer smiled meaningfully and took a step back, holding Serena closer.

Dylan stared at him in confusion. Spencer, what are you doing?

Dylan, you and Stella are divorced. That makes you strangers now.Spencer glanced down at Serena’s pale, delicate face, his heart swelling with protectiveness. I like her, too. And now that she’s free, I have every right to pursue her.

Spencer looked back up, meeting Dylan’s gaze steadily. Do you have any idea how amazing she is? She’d have done anything for you, even if it hurt her. But now she’s done with you. And honestly, I couldn’t be happier for her.”
