From Divorced Wife To The Top Heiress novel Chapter 23

Serena stumbled from the impact, swaying unsteadily. Spencer was instantly at her side, catching her before she could fall. Stella,he said, his voice tight with concern as she leaned against him weakly.

I’m alright,Serena replied, though her face was pale.

Dylan wheeled toward Beatrice, his voice low but furious. Mom, what are you doing? She’s already unwell. How could you shove her like that?

Beatrice scoffed coldly. She intended to twist the knife in Serena’s wounds to make Serena suffer even more. Nothing and no one would interfere with her plans.

Dylan, you need to be careful around this woman,Beatrice shot back, Ever since her child died, she hasn’t been right in the mind. I’m afraid she’ll try to take Liam from us. You must keep your guard up around her from now on.

Mom, Stella and I are already divorced,Dylan retorted, frustration edging his voice, What more do you want?

I don’t want anything,Beatrice replied coolly, I just need you to marry Eliana. Once that’s done, I can finally rest easy.It had always been Beatrice’s plan. She must ensure Stella would never show her face around the Ashford family again.

Serena hadn’t given it much thought before, but Beatrice’s extreme reaction now cast a shadow over her heart.

If Serena’s own child had lived, he would be about the same age as Liam, around three years old. A child that age can already recognize people and show clear attachment.

For now, Serena set aside the odd feeling that Liam’s face looked somewhat familiar. Just the fact that he kept calling her Mommyfor no reason was suspicious enough.

Liam was sick today, weak, and at an age when he would naturally depend on his mother. Serena had only seen him twice, but she could clearly sense that he didn’t seem fond of Eliana. And in Eliana’s eyes, there was none of the tenderness a mother should have for her child.

What chilled Serena even more was the clear memory that the child she gave birth to was healthy. Back then, she had no one to turn to, and only two nurses helped her during the delivery.

Serena thought it was time to look properly into what really happened back then.

No matter how stormy her thoughts were inside, Serena’s expression remained perfectly calm. She knew that if she showed even a hint of suspicion, Beatrice would grow wary and defensive, and Eliana might take it out on the child.

Mrs. Ashford, I’m nothing like youso spiteful,Serena said coolly, I lived in your house for three years. Every day you called me a jinx, said I ruined Dylan and Eliana’s relationship, and turned a blind eye to everything I did.

You claim your family was cursed to meet a woman like me? Well, we’ll see. Time will tell who really brought the curse into your home.

Beatrice kept claiming how deeply in love Dylan and Eliana were, and Dylan himself insisted it was Eliana who donated part of her liver to save him.

Yet the truth was, it was Serena who managed Dylan’s followup care and treatments. Without the medicine she continued o provide, his health would have certainly deteriorated.

Serena would wait and see how exactly Eliana would save Dylan then. She was also curious whether, if Dylan were to face ruin again, Eliana would still stand by him through thick and thin.

Beatrice’s eyes darted away briefly. Whenever she had belittled Serena in the past, Dylan was never around. On the rare occasions he was home, Beatrice made sure to treat Serena with extra warmth and care. That was why she felt certain Dylanı wouldn’t believe a word Serena said now.
