Chapter 318
Beatrice was stunned. She never expected the cops to show up so fast.

With Kendall’s resources, all she could do was call the police. Normally, it should’ve taken them ages to track them down, but they showed up in no time.
That meant whoever was behind this had some serious pull,
Who was that woman on the phone?‘ Beatrice wondered.
She thought, ‘Was she the one helping Kendall?‘
Beatrice had thought it all out. She planned to wait until Eliana had secured her place in the Lennox family before handing her daughter back to Kendall.
But what Beatrice didn’t know was that a lot of people already knew about what was going on.
Serena knew everything.
What Beatrice never saw coming was that the woman she’d been hurting all this time was actually Zoe’s daughter, the same child she’d secretly thrown away years ago.
‘Madam,” the butler came in and announced, “We’ve learned that Stella has been secretly helping Kendall. Stella also went to the orphanage today. The director there was caught embezzling funds and has already been reported.”
“What?” Beatrice was floored. ‘Why Stella of all people? Why would she get involved with Kendall?‘ she thought.
Why would Stella help Kendall?‘ Beatrice couldn’t wrap her head around it.
‘Have Simon look into it. I want to know what’s really going on between Stella and Kendall, and dig up everything you can about Stella,” Beatrice ordered.
Did she really use her connections to save the Ashford family from ruin back then?‘ Beatrice couldn’t help but wonder.
Beatrice knew Kendall had called the cops, and she feared there was no way to keep the truth about the past buried any longer.
She had to figure out a way to wash her hands of the whole mess and come out spotless.
The butler hurried out, and Beatrice slumped onto the couch, exhausted. Sweat beaded on her forehead.
She let out a deep breath.
She’d been on edge all day, but now that the situation with Kendall was resolved, she could finally relax.
With Stella in the mix, this was no longer a simple matter.
Beatrice was unsettled. Why had the police suddenly stopped investigating her?
Strangely, that made her even more nervous than when she was actually under investigation.
‘How did Stella and Kendall even cross paths?‘ Beatrice wondered.
“Mom, what’s going on? Where’s my daughter?” Eliana burst in, her voice brimming with anger. “Did her mother really come and take her away?”

Chapter 318
She’d bumped into the butler as she came in. He was on their side, so he’d already told her everything.
Beatrice nodded and said, “Yeah, her mom is Kendall. I never thought she’d actually know Stella. Stella was the one helping her out today. The cops showed up in no time.
“That just goes to show Stella must have some powerful connections. Even the police didn’t dare slack off”
Eliana felt a flicker of recognition when she heard the name.
Then it hit her. “Kendall? She was the judge from the last competition. Stella invited her to join their company.
“Wait, what? Why her?” Eliana blurted out, her voice rising in surprise.
Suddenly, Eliana tensed up.
Beatrice froze for a second, then realization dawned on her. ‘So that’s what happened, she thought to herself.
‘So, Stella’s figured out everything, Beatrice realized, anxiety creeping in.
“Damn it, why is she everywhere I go?” Beatrice muttered, her frustration boiling over.
Beatrice was livid. Stella was her kryptonite. No matter what she did, Stella always had her under her thumb.
But she never remembered she was the one who started plotting against Stella in the first place.
That was just human nature. People always forgot their own mess–ups and blamed others for getting in their way.
But the more Beatrice thought about it, the more she couldn’t help but wonder about Stella. ‘Who is she, really? What’s her true background?‘ Beatrice mused, her curiosity growing by the minute.
She’d even had people look into Stella, but nobody could dig up a single thing about her.
Eliana realized everything had gone south, resentment simmering beneath her gaze. ‘Is it Stella messing things up for me again?‘ she fumed inwardly.
‘Damn her, she deserves to rot!‘ Eliana cursed in her mind. ‘When is Jasper finally going to make his move?‘ she wondered, impatience gnawing at her.
Eliana had never felt days drag on so painfully before, and she couldn’t tell if Jasper even believed a word she said.
Beatrice knew Mariana had already taken Eliana in at the Lennox family, so she asked, concern written all over her face, “Eliana, how’s life treating you over there with the Lennox family?”
