Dylan picked up his cup and took a graceful sip of coffee, enjoying its gentle, refreshing aroma.
“Stella, you’ve lost weight. Even with all your work, you need to take care of yourself,” he said.
Serena froze for a second, caught off guard by the concern in his voice.
For three years of marriage, just a caring look or a gentle word from him could make her happy for days.
But now, hearing his concern felt unnecessary. Something she no longer needed.

She sat up straight and smirked. “Dylan, I only invited you to dinner because it’s dinner time. I never thought about forgiving you or getting back together. It’s just a meal, nothing more.
“Don’t read too much into it. There’s no chance for us.”
Dylan knew that most people react the same way. When they were refused, their first instinct was to be afraid.
“Stella, have you ever heard this? Real friends are the ones who never leave, and true love is the kind that nothing can tear
apart.
“I’ll spend the rest of my life making it up to you and our son. I’m so sorry I hurt you so deeply,” he said.
‘Stella, I’m sorry I never dared to face your true feelings before. You opened your heart to me, and all I did was leave you scarred, he thought.
Beneath Selena’s tough and calm exterior, she was actually fragile. She was good at pretending. When she was with him, she always acted as if nothing bothered her, no matter how much she got hurt.
She stayed by his side, longing for a love that was never meant for her. He had once been where she was.
He finally realized that the greatest distance in the world is standing right in front of someone you love, and they have no
idea.
It took courage to secretly love someone, and she held on for years. In the end, she let go with calm and ease, as if it was nothing at all.
Every time Dylan remembered the heartbreak in Serena’s eyes. He finally understood. It was he, bit by bit, who destroyed
her love.
He wanted to end it all, and if he even had the courage to take his own life, why couldn’t he find the courage to stay by her side?
He chose the latter. He would stay with her for the rest of his life and grow old together with her.
Serena didn’t say much. She didn’t want to talk about the past, and after breaking up, there was no way they could ever be friends.
They were just acquaintances. Nothing more.
“Congratulations! I heard you’ve landed several new projects lately,” Serena said, shifting the conversation to work.
“Thanks. I just hope I won’t let you down again and disappoint Grandpa and Grandma,” Dylan replied, leaning back a little, his voice tender and affectionate.
He sat with a touch of devilish charm, his smile gentle yet even more alluring.

Chapter 371
At work, Dylan kept trying to get closer to her, but Serena seemed to be avoiding anything to do with him.

Her diary was filled with things she once dreamed of doing with him. If their relationship ever thawed, he promised he’d take her to experience every single one.
Serena smiled. “As long as you can stand by your own efforts, that’s enough. We’re divorced. Keep that in mind.”
She didn’t love him anymore. Whether she was disappointed or not simply didn’t matter.
Dylan flashed a confident, almost swaggering smile. “Stella, I won’t let you down this time. Can’t you see I’ve changed? I’m gentler and humble now.”
Back then, he was mature, but always carried a wild, devilish confidence. Perhaps having her around made success come too quickly, and he was always a bit too proud for his own good.
Serena shook her head. “I don’t see any change in you. All I see is that your ego’s gotten even bigger.”
Dylan’s eyes went wide in surprise. ‘Yes! Stella’s actually joking with me,’ he thought, a surge of happiness washing over him.
Dylan let out a carefree laugh.
Serena’s anger flared, and her lips pursed in annoyance. “Dylan, put away that smile! Every time I see you, my heart aches so badly. It feels like it’s being swallowed whole, piece by piece. How can you be so happy in front of me?”
