Chapter 44
Dylan didn’t want to argue with Eliana.
Those letters she wrote back then had pulled him out of a dark place, and he had always treasured that bond.
“Eliana, of course, I believe you, but the quality inspection report is real. I just hope your dad isn’t selling counterfeit alcohol to my bar, that’s my biggest concession,” Dylan said.
Eliana was stunned into silence. ‘If the public found out my dad was profiting from counterfeit liquor, our family would be finished,‘ she thought.
She shot back loudly, “Dylan, my dad has never sold counterfeit alcohol.”
Without replying, Dylan hung up, clutching his uncomfortable stomach. He took out another pill left by Stella from his bag and swallowed it.
Seeing Miles coming down, Dylan got into the car and had Miles drive him to his favorite restaurant.
Serena had just returned to Cloudmere Estate when she received news that Dylan had cut ties with his former suppliers and switched to working with the Lambert family.
She wasn’t surprised by this at all. For the person he loved, Dylan was willing to put his entire fortune on the line.
But Dylan didn’t realize that if love demands such a high price to maintain, that love would inevitably sour in the end.
Back then, with Serena secretly helping, Dylan could easily rise again.
But it was not anymore. The daily grind of life was what truly tested a person’s willpower.
‘Eliana, I will tear off your mask and make Dylan feel real pain,‘ Serena thought coldly.
Serena stood by the floor–to–ceiling window, her pale face reflected in the glass. Her gaze was calm, and her beautiful eyes mirrored the scenic view outside.
After standing there for a long moment, she finally looked down at her phone. News of the Ashford family partnering with the Lambert family, alongside Kismet Bar severing ties with the Lambert family, had become trending topics.
[Wow, Kismet Bar finally switched partners? Their drinks always tasted counterfeit. Now with new suppliers, once they reopen, I’m first in line to check it out. The decor is actually my favorite.]
[I feel the same way. Kismet Bar’s design is really charming, but their drinks were awful. Hopefully, after this revamp, the drinks will improve.]
[Just went in for fun, but their cocktails are disgusting. My girlfriend ordered a Misty Sunset last time, and it was sour and gross, and she had a headache the next day. All made with cheap liquor, who would dare drink that?]

[The Ashford Group owns Spire Bar. Several of their locations have drinks similar in taste to Kismet Bar, but Spire’s bartenders are better. Their drinks are a bit more enjoyable.]
Serena smiled at the comments. The public’s eyes were sharp. These were the real proof she needed.
‘Dylan’s such a fool. Wait for that bar to shut down,‘ she thought. ‘This is only the beginning. Jasper’s cunning, he won’t let this go.”‘
Relying on just Pierre and Eliana, they couldn’t have fabricated the accident that hit Serena.
Serena was determined to find evidence and expose Eliana’s true nature.
Seeing Chris return, Serena headed downstairs to meet him.
Before leaving, she smiled and messaged Yolanda: [Plan two is underway.]
