From Divorced Wife To The Top Heiress novel Chapter 5

Dylan’s frown deepened, a smoldering fire igniting in the depths of his eyes. The usual laughter in them vanished, replaced by something sharp and invasive.

“Stella,” he bit out, “must you insist on making a scene?”

Serena felt a familiar sting. ‘He’s always like this. No matter what I do, it’s wrong. And now I’m making a scene? By doing what? Defending myself?”

“Dylan,” she said, each word clear and hard as steel. “All I want is to prove my innocence. In your eyes, when did that become ‘making a scene“?”

Her gaze was unyielding, shining with a challenging light that seemed to pierce right through him.

Dylan’s brow furrowed further. ‘Is this her true nature? Was all the gentleness and compliance just an act?‘

Meanwhile, Eliana, hearing the mention of security footage, felt panic rise, her eyes growing red–rimmed.

She took a step forward, pressing herself and Liam against Dylan in a blatant show of possession.

“Stella, I’m sorry. I just… stumbled. Please, don’t be angry.” Her voice was a practiced whisper of contrition.

“Stumbled?” Serena’s eyes flicked to Dylan. His features were starkly handsome, his lips now pressed into a thin, tense line.

The mockery in Serena’s eyes intensified. “Your ‘stumble‘ has convinced Dylan I’m at fault. I’ve always valued my integrity. Being bitten by a dog once was dirty enough. Now I’m to be falsely accused too? I don’t accept your ‘stumble.”

The thought of Dylan touching Eliana and then touching her made her skin crawl. She had been a fool, love–struck and pathetic, wasting years of her life.

Dylan opened his mouth to retort, but Serena gave him no chance. She pulled out her phone and made a call. “Chris, go to the first–floor security office. Pull the footage…”

She gave crisp, clear instructions and then stood her ground, waiting.

Eliana watched her, hatred simmering behind a veil of tears. “Stella, I’m not even making an issue of it. Why are you being so aggressive?”

“Aggressive?” Serena shot back, her voice cold. “When you were busy setting me up, why didn’t you call yourself vicious?”

She was no saint. Playing the ‘nice girl‘ for the Ashford family had only made everyone think she was an easy target.

ite puzzled. ‘Stella is truly different. She used to be more careful, no matter the provocation. But where is this strength coming from? What gave her such confidence now that she’s divorced from Dylan?’

“Dylan,” she said, her voice ice–edged. “See for yourself. Your woman is the vicious one. So desperate to frame me she’d risk her own child.”

But Dylan didn’t immediately look at his phone. His attention was fixed on Chris, who was tall, handsome, with a presence that rivaled his own.
