Chapter 72
Dylan felt a twinge of unease deep in his chest as he saw Serena really showing up at the party as Spencer’s companion.
Serena looked stunning tonight. Her floor–length gown clung perfectly to her curves, accentuating her flawless figure.
Her long hair cascaded over her shoulders, and the diamond necklace and earrings made her skin glow.
Eliana, in a white dress with straight hair falling down her back, looked almost pale. Standing in front of Serena, she seemed utterly ordinary, completely overshadowed by Serena’s commanding presence.
In that moment, Eliana’s insecurities bubbled up uncontrollably.
“Dylan, you and Ms. Lambert are here, too,” Spencer greeted with a smile.
Seeing the two of them together, Spencer felt a wave of relief; it was easier on the eyes.
“Yes,” Dylan replied coldly.
Spencer had a few partners to meet. “Serena, I need to go greet some important collaborators. I’ll come get you in ten minutes. Let me take you to the lounge first.”
Serena nodded. “Okay.”
After escorting Serena to the lounge, Spencer left.
Serena leaned back lazily on the sofa, her eyes down, absorbed in work.

There were plenty of parasites in Dreamhaven Branch, and Serena’s current priority was to clean them out. The company didn’t pay for idlers. The personnel cleanup was almost done, but they hadn’t started recruiting designers.
Serena had too much on her plate to focus on designing right now.
Suddenly, Serena saw a message from Vivian, saying she couldn’t make it tonight.
Serena felt a twinge of curiosity. ‘What’s Vivian been so busy with lately?‘
Then Serena heard the door open and instinctively thought Spencer had returned.
She lifted her eyes, and the gentle warmth in them instantly turned ice–cold. ‘Dylan? What is he doing here?‘
Dylan stepped inside and saw Serena, relaxed yet exuding a noble elegance. She looked breathtaking tonight in a black gown, moving through the crowd with a proud, almost domineering beauty.
Eliana had gone off to chat with friends, and Dylan had unconsciously followed here.
He looked at Serena on the sofa, serene and commanding. ‘She has become even more intoxicating since

leaving me, he thought.
He approached, a devilish smile curling on his lips. He sat beside her, ignoring the cutting chill in her gaze. Slowly, he leaned in, his lips brushing near her car, and murmured, “Stella, don’t you owe me some explanation?”
‘Explanation? About what?‘ Serena thought.
“Mr. Ashford, I have nothing to explain,” she said, her tone icy and detached,
Dylan’s brows furrowed. Ever since their divorce, seeing her unfamiliar eyes always left a dull ache in his
chest.
For reasons he didn’t understand, he felt this irresistible urge to silence her insistent, restless lips.
Action outpaced thought. Without hesitation, he kissed her. Her lips were just as soft as he remembered.
Serena froze, a sharp memory flaring; he had kissed Eliana, too. Serena pushed him away forcefully.
Wiping her lips, Serena felt a wave of disgust. Her furious eyes sparked with hatred. She shouted, “Dylan, how
“Stella, you and Spencer aren’t meant for each other,” Dylan said, slightly pulling back, still wearing that same cocky, careless expression.
