Dylan watched Serena’s car disappear down the street before turning his attention back to Eliana. His grandmother’s disappointed face flashed in his mind.

He looked at the gentle woman before him, remembering the pride he felt when she had won that design award all those years ago.

“Eliana, I’ve alienated everyone,” he said, his voice heavy. “You’re all I have left. But don’t worry, I’ll set up that fashion design company for you. With your award–winning talent, I know you’ll make it a success.”

If Eliana betrayed him too, he didn’t know how he could ever face his grandparents again.

Eliana leaned into his embrace. “Dylan, you’re all I have, too.”

She had to go abroad for a follow–up. If the results were good, she would get pregnant as soon as possible.

As for Liam, she’d find an opportunity for him to have a fatal accident.

Dylan looked at Eliana, a strange, unidentifiable feeling stirring in his gut.

The woman standing before him felt so different from the one he had fallen in love with through her letters.

He quickly pushed the thought away. He had already wronged Stella; he couldn’t fail Eliana, too.

“Go on, get home safe,” Dylan said, then turned and walked away.

Once he was out of sight, Eliana pulled out her phone and called her father, Jasper.

“Eliana, what is it?” Jasper’s voice was more relaxed than it had been in days, assuming the crisis was over.

“Dad, did you send people after Stella in Dylan’s name?” she asked, her voice sharp.

Jasper’s tone immediately tensed. “What are you talking about?”

“Dad, I’m your daughter. Did you really think I wouldn’t know what you’ve done? Because of what those four men did in the alley, Stella is retaliating against Dylan. She’s the one who reported the bar to the authorities.”

“Dad, who else could it be?” Eliana asked, fanning the flames.

“That bitch,” Jasper snarled. “I won’t let her get away with this. If she tries to ruin my family, I’ll mak disappear permanently.”
