From His Invisible Wife to the World's Icon novel Chapter 11

Meanwhile, at the bridal boutique, before the manager could lead Lydia Sterling into the fitting room, Alice got a call from a wealthy client asking about the details of tomorrow's charity auction items, so she stepped outside to grab the files from the car.

Lydia entered the fitting room alone. The associate dropped off the dress and left. Lydia took the gown into the changing stall, slipped out of her white cashmere coat and jeans, and pulled on the strapless dress. Suddenly, a sharp ripping sound echoed behind her.

The back of the dress had completely split. Was she gaining weight?

The custom quality shouldn't be this bad.

While she was standing there confused, the handle of the stall door suddenly turned.

She jumped.

Thankfully, she had locked it as soon as she came in. Whoever was out there couldn't open it.

"Alice, is that you?" she asked quietly, but the only response was the frantic rattling of the handle.

Panic set in. "Who's out there?"

"You're so useless. If it won't turn, just kick it open!" a familiar voice suddenly rang out.

"Get ready to take photos, I'm kicking it."

Following the man's voice came the rapid clicking of camera shutters.

She watched a dark shadow approach the frosted glass, clearly winding up for a kick, while the tear in the back of her dress grew larger by the second. The gown slipped right down her chest. She was completely exposed. If the media caught her naked...

Her reputation would be in tatters.

It all happened in seconds. She screamed in a panic, "Alice! Manager! Help..."

Before anyone could come to her rescue, the man's foot struck the door. A loud bang exploded right beside her ear.

Camera flashes lit up the empty changing stall.

"Where is she!" someone yelled, immediately realizing something was wrong.

At that moment, Lydia stepped out from the adjacent fitting room and stood by the door, her expression ice-cold. "I've already called the cops. None of you are getting away!"

Her purse and phone were still in the other stall; she was just bluffing.

"I came to help a friend catch a cheater, I had no idea Lydia was changing in there." Sierra immediately clung to Frederick's arm, playing the victim. "If you don't believe me, I can get my friend here right now to explain."

Frederick's expression remained neutral. "It was just a misunderstanding."

"A misunderstanding?"

Sierra claimed ignorance, and he blindly defended her with a single word to push the blame away.

Meanwhile, she had nearly been stripped bare in front of cameras.

Explain? Sierra's so-called friend would only lie for her.

Lydia clenched her fists. "The seam of my dress split right down my back, and then someone kicked the door in while a bunch of reporters stood there waiting to take photos."

"Do you really think that's a misunderstanding?"

"This was a setup."

"Frederick, it really was just a mix-up! How could I ever do something like that to Lydia?" Sierra argued defensively.
