"Now the media and your Uncle Charles have got the wrong idea."
"Hurry up and clear things up with them."
But she knew exactly what kind of venomous snake hid beneath Cecilia's gentle facade.
Cecilia suddenly lowered her voice so only the two of them could hear.
"I know your mother has a heart condition and can't handle any sudden shocks."
"You don't want to blow this out of proportion."
She was threatening her!
But Cecilia had forgotten one thing!
She was no longer that helpless child who allowed them to twist the truth without a fight. "Uncle Charles, Frederick told her she could wear the pink diamond for a few days."
Hearing her say this, Cecilia walked away looking satisfied.
Looking at the smug faces of Cecilia and her daughter, she continued, "However, she told me that Frederick gave it to her as a gift."
"She has no intention of returning it. She thinks I'm unworthy and that she's the only one fit to be the lady of The Foster Group."
"Not only that, but she also smashed my grandmother's only heirloom." Lydia pulled the shattered pieces of the ruby necklace from her purse and placed them on the coffee table.
Seeing this, Charles's brow furrowed, absolute fury rolling off him. "She actually smashed Lydia's only heirloom from her grandmother."
Cecilia snapped her head around, glaring venomously.
Sierra desperately argued, "Uncle Charles, I didn't, I really didn't. Lydia is lying."
Arthur Sutton shot his daughter a furious glare before retracting his gaze and explaining to Charles, "Charles, you watched Sierra grow up. She might be a little willful and mischievous, but she wouldn't do something like this."
"Wouldn't she?" Lydia scoffed coldly. "She literally just said that an heirloom should be destroyed along with its owner, and then she smashed the necklace."
"I never said that... Lydia, you're framing me..." Seeing Charles's dark expression, tears spilled frantically from Sierra's eyes.
Even as in-laws, Arthur was inherently inferior to Charles.
They all looked toward Frederick, who simply stared blankly at Charles on the screen. "The press has already been handled. There's no need to make everyone miserable over this."
Charles's face turned livid. "Do you think Lydia is anything but miserable after what you two pulled?"
"Lydia, what do you want to do?" Charles asked gently.
Everyone's eyes landed on her.
"Lydia, whatever you want to do, Dad supports you." Charles stood firmly by her side, and she was incredibly moved.
She wanted nothing more than to force Sierra to repent at her grandmother's grave, but she knew the marriage between the Suttons and Fosters tied their interests together on too many levels. It wasn't something that could be severed with a single sentence.
"Cecilia was right about one thing. As the older sister, I should properly discipline my younger sister."
Lydia walked right up to Sierra, ripped the emerald necklace right off her neck, and slapped her hard across the face.
