From His Invisible Wife to the World's Icon novel Chapter 29

“If we wait for them to initiate, we'll hold all the leverage,” Daniel analyzed the strategy for the divorce settlement. “That way, we can negotiate for much more...”

Lydia placed a hand over Daniel's to stop him. Daniel paused, looking up as they both locked eyes on Frederick.

As Frederick approached, his towering, broad-shouldered frame commanded the space, exuding an untouchable elegance. His sharp jawline carried a distinctly unapproachable, icy edge.

“Mr. Foster, it's been a while,” Daniel greeted him.

The man offered a curt nod.

Growing up in the same social circles, they recognized each other even if they weren't close.

Seeing Frederick's impassive expression, Lydia gave Daniel a subtle nod, signaling him to leave.

Once Daniel was gone, Frederick still didn't mention the divorce.

Clearly, he wasn't ready yet.

As Lydia sat in silence, the man spoke flatly. “Come outside.”

She was confused until her phone rang. She answered it to hear her mother's firm instructions. Looking at the man's retreating back, she finally understood why he had suddenly shown up.

Her mother had called him.

Inside the enclosed cabin of the Rolls-Royce.

The crisp, masculine scent of him mixed with the faint aroma of women's gardenia perfume. It sent a wave of nausea rolling through her stomach, triggering the memory of the tangled mess she had witnessed in his office from Xavier's building.

Was his actual stamina failing, so he resorted to IVF?

A suffocating sense of humiliation washed over her, making her feel as if they were just playing her for a fool.

She could no longer endure this life.

Even if it infuriated her mother, she was going to divorce him.

When they arrived at the hospital, she practically ran to the inpatient ward. She walked in to see her mother furious, pointing a trembling finger at Arthur and Cecilia. “Get out!”

“Madeline, Cecilia came here out of the goodness of her heart to visit you because you're severely ill. What kind of attitude is this?”

“Drop the act, Arthur.”

“Was she visiting me out of kindness, or is she trying to push me into an early grave? You both know exactly what you're doing!”
