From His Invisible Wife to the World's Icon novel Chapter 31

"He only has eyes for Sierra. You're nothing to him." Seeing her sobbing uncontrollably, Luke softened his voice. "Just be a good girl and stay with me. Once I help my sister take back The Foster Group, we'll crush that scumbag and his little bitch together."

She nodded.

"Baby, you're driving me crazy..."

Seeing her submit and knowing she couldn't escape, Luke lunged at her.

But all that remained in her eyes was blazing fury. She bit down hard on his neck, drawing blood. Luke, already injured and now caught off guard by her sudden attack, let out an agonizing scream. For a moment, he lost the ability to fight back.

She shoved him away, scrambled to her feet, and bolted toward the exit.

"You..."

Ignoring Luke's curses echoing behind her, she ran as fast as she could. Suddenly, she slammed headfirst into a solid wall of muscle. Looking up, she met a flawless, handsome face. His calm, dark eyes swirled with an incoming storm.

Seeing him like a savior, she grabbed Xavier's hand. "Mr. Ford, someone is chasing me. Please help me."

His deep gaze swept over her, but before he could speak...

Luke caught up.

Terrified, she hid behind Xavier, her hand trembling as she clung to his sleeve. "Mr. Ford, he tried to force himself on me..."

A flash of guilt crossed Luke's eyes before he started shouting. "Don't listen to her nonsense! She's my nephew's wife. I was just giving her a piece of my mind as an elder, and she went crazy and beat me up."

"I'm taking her back right now to find my nephew. Their family owes me an explanation."

He charged forward to grab her. She shrank back in terror, turning to run.

Suddenly, the man raised his leg and delivered a brutal kick to Luke's knee. Luke crashed hard to the ground, his chin smashing against the floor. Blood instantly poured from the wound, and he passed out cold.

Her tense nerves snapped. Just as her legs gave out, an arm wrapped securely around her waist.

Before she could fully register the touch, he withdrew his hand.

The commotion quickly drew attention.

She desperately needed medical attention. As she took a step, a trench coat was draped over her shoulders.

Lydia looked down, finally realizing what a mess she was. Her white cashmere dress had been torn in several places, exposing the stunning curves of her chest.

The black trench coat, smelling faintly of cedarwood, enveloped her. The stark contrast of black and white wrapped around her, shielding her completely from view.

A subtle warmth brushed against her heart.

"Thank you, Mr. Ford."

She thanked him sincerely, but the man walked away without a word.

She immediately explained the situation to the rushing medical staff and security.

Security dragged Luke away.

Lydia explained everything to the nurses. She had lost her heels during the struggle, and her feet were badly cut. She was placed in a wheelchair and rushed to the emergency room.

As she was wheeled in, she spotted a distinguished man sitting on a metal bench, holding Sierra and comforting her. He had one arm around her waist and a hand resting on her back. His lips pressed against her ear as he murmured softly, his eyes full of tender heartache.

Sierra rested her head on his shoulder, curled up into a tight, fragile little ball.

Lydia used to act like that in his arms, entirely protected by him.
