From His Invisible Wife to the World's Icon novel Chapter 43

"It's so beautiful."

"The last time I came up here was a long time ago."

She couldn't help but sigh. It had been with Frederick. The man's cold, handsome face surfaced in her mind, and she quickly looked away.

Realizing the warmth on her ankle was gone, she turned back to Xavier. "Thank you."

The man didn't say a word. He stepped out of the car.

Wesley pulled a case of bottled water from the trunk and poured it over his boss's hands to wash them.

Feeling slightly guilty, she stepped out of the car as well. Miraculously, her ankle didn't hurt anymore; it just felt a little stiff.

She walked over and offered to help pour the water for him.

Despite his arrogant and cold demeanor, he had genuinely saved her several times.

After they cleaned up and got back in the car.

"Ms. Sterling, where can we drop you off?"

Obviously, she didn't need the hospital anymore. "Moonlight Cove."

"Oh? You live at Moonlight Cove too?" Wesley asked, surprised.

Did they live there as well?

No way, right?

"Which building and unit? My boss lives at Moonlight Cove too."

A wave of dread washed over her. "Building eight, unit 1202."

"What a coincidence. My boss is in 1201." Wesley's words struck her like a bolt of lightning. She could distinctly feel the aura of the man next to her turn dangerously cold.

He had already accused her of deliberately approaching him once. Now he was definitely going to think she was stalking him.

She glanced sideways and met his pitch-black eyes, gleaming with a dangerous intensity.

But he didn't ask, and she didn't know how to explain herself.

Whatever. She wasn't going to bother explaining.

She would be leaving the country in twenty-three days anyway. She would never see him again.

The three of them stepped out of the elevator on the twelfth floor.

She hurried into unit 1202.

The man stood motionless in the hallway, staring at the door of 1202, while Wesley opened the door to 1201.

...

Meanwhile, in the servant's quarters at the Foster estate.

Seraphina scoffed. "He helped you? You idiot, how else was he going to break your legs if he didn't bail you out first?"
