Chapter 76 The Line Crossed

Some nearby students overheard the comment.

Shock rippled across their faces. Seriously? That’s disgusting.

Looks of open disdain fell on Seraphina from every direction, some openly contemptuous, others quietly judgmental.

She didn’t acknowledge a single one of them. Her expression stayed calm, distant.

She walked to the shared bookshelf at the front of the classroom, picked out a book, then turned and headed toward the back row.

“What’s the point of pretending to be so pure?” Sabrina sneered, unwilling to let it go. “All classy at school, but outside you’re basically-”

She never finished.

A book shot through the air and smacked straight into her face.

“Ah!” Sabrina cried out, pain instantly bringing tears to her eyes.

The entire classroom snapped upright. Conversations died on the spot. No one dared whisper anymore.

The bell rang.

The calculus professor strode in wearing heels, glanced around briefly, skipped roll call, and launched straight into an intense lecture.

The students suffered in silence.

If someone had to sum it up, it would be simple. I’ve been sitting here forever. Everything sounds familiar. I still have no idea what she’s saying.

The students who actually cared about grades already looked miserable, faces frozen in quiet agony.

Those who didn’t had completely checked out. Some slept. Some scrolled through videos. Others stared out the window at students fooling around on the field, smiling to themselves.

Seraphina spread a small blanket over her desk, settled in, and went to sleep.

Viola turned around and saw her sleeping in the last row,

Anger flared instantly.

How could someone be that unapologetically careless?

She didn’t understand the lecture either. She wanted to sleep too.

But she couldn’t. She had to maintain her image. Every class, she fought for a front-row seat, sitting

perfectly straight, notebook open.

All to reinforce her reputation as the model student in the professor’s eyes.

And to enjoy the praise. Valedawn’s goddess. Valedawn’s academic star.

She monitored every word, every movement. Seraphina, on the other hand, did whatever she wanted.

The contrast drove Viola nearly mad with jealousy.

Soon, the lecture ended. As usual, the professor announced an in-class problem. Whoever was called would have their performance counted toward their final grade.

Groans erupted across the room. A full-scale academic disaster zone.

The professor turned and filled the board with equations, chalk flying. She pointed to a male student. “You. Come up.”

The student shuffled forward, face pale.

Ten minutes passed. He stood there, staring at the board. Not a single word appeared.

The professor looked ready to lose it. “At least write something! How am I supposed to give you participation credit otherwise?”

Participation points mattered. They were how students got rescued at finals.

The student genuinely had no idea what to write. But leaving it blank wasn’t an option either.

Finally, he grabbed the chalk and wrote in huge letters. “I don’t know how to do this.”

The classroom burst into laughter.

The professor snapped. “Out. Zero.”

Sabrina stood up immediately. “Professor, you tested someone from our program. It’s only fair you test someone from the international program too.”

“Yeah,” others chimed in. “That’s fair.”

The professor glanced toward the back of the room.

The international program students were slumped over their desks in perfect unison, some half-asleep, some barely conscious.
