“Exactly,” someone laughed. “International program. Global track. This should be easy for her.”
Laughter rippled through the front rows, open mockery.
They’d always looked down on the international program.
Kids with money who bypassed the system and still ended up sitting in the same university classrooms Today, they wanted to watch them fail.
The noise woke the international program students in the back. They glared forward, angry and helpless. They knew the truth.
They really couldn’t solve it.
The calculus professor frowned. The problem was difficult. There was no realistic chance anyone from that program could answer it.
But the atmosphere left her no room to retreat.
“Who’s the transfer student?” she asked. “What’s your name? Come up and solve this.”
She called again. No response.
Ethan finally stood up, walked over, and kicked the leg of Seraphina’s desk.
Seraphina opened her eyes groggily and heard the professor calling for the international program transfer
student.
She yawned and slowly stood up.
“Please come solve the problem,” the professor said.
Every head turned. Seraphina yawned again, glanced at the board, and took a step forward.
Ethan cleared his throat quietly, catching her attention.
“If you don’t want to do this, you don’t have to,” he muttered. “Nobody here gets to push you around.”
Seraphina paused. Seeing his awkward, uneasy expression, she understood. He was trying to protect her.
Thanks,” she said lazily.
She yawned a third time and walked to the front, completely unfazed. One glance at the board.
The solution was already clear. Actually, there were three.
Which one would the professor understand best? The regular-track students couldn’t help themselves.
Hey, we asked you to solve it, not stand there like a statue.”

“Be nice,” someone laughed. “Let the pretty girl save face.”
“It’s for her own good,” another added. “Failure builds character.”
Laughter erupted again.
Ethan slammed his desk. “Enough!” he shouted. “Anyone laughs again, I’ll deal with you.”
The professor stepped forward, uncomfortable, about to intervene-

Seraphina picked up the chalk. She filled the board from left to right. Line after line. In under fifteen minutes, three complete solutions covered the board.
The classroom fell dead silent. Everyone stared.
Many students had passed advanced English exams, yet standing there now, they could only recognize
scattered letters.
One student who had mocked her earlier leaned back and sighed. “Damn. Turns out I’m the idiot.”
The professor was stunned.
