Margaret shifted her posture and continued, “The Empire is crawling with useless, hereditary nobles living off their titles. What Irene lacks isn’t talent-it’s opportunity. The aristocracy has every promotion path locked down. Someone climbing up from the gutter? They’d be stuck as a clerk their whole life. But give her a ladder, and I guarantee she’ll outperform every last one of them.”

“This female’s capabilities are definitely enough, but I’m not clear on her background, “Leaning back in her seat, Margaret added, “If her record is clean and she’s willing to work for me, a position like Chief of Internal Affairs or Minister of Finance could be hers.”

A soft chuckle came from the back. “Ms. Greene, that’s an extraordinary leap from a customer service supervisor straight into the Cabinet? The old fossils in Darien’s circle would have a collective stroke,” Tyrone remarked.

“Good. Let them stroke out. Playing by their rules of seniority and pedigree isn’t my style. Their system is obsolete, Margaret replied, her tone casual.

Cheiron activated his Holo-bracelet, inputting commands with one hand. “I’ll have the Academy’s intelligence network run a full background check. Family connections, financial dealings for three generations back. You’ll have the report by morning,”

The hovercar glided to a stop before the villa.

The moment the door opened, Timothy was there to meet them. He took in their demeanor instantly- something was off, especially with the faint, lingering scent of blood clinging to Quentin.

All traces of his usual playful grin vanished. Timothy moved swiftly to Margaret’s side, his blue eyes sharp with concern. “What happened? Are you hurt? Did those Cabinet fossils give you trouble? Just say the word, and I’ll have their assets seized.”

His fiercely protective stance broke the tension, coaxing a genuine, weary smile from her.

“Someone else already handled the asset-seizing today. That job’s taken.” She reached out, ruffling his blond hair. “Go on, call Norman down. Time to wash up for dinner.”

With a dutiful nod, Timothy headed upstairs to knock on the door.

Soon, he returned, leading Norman by the hand. The little girl’s face lit up at the sight of Margaret. She scampered over, wrapping her arms around Margaret’s legs.

“You’re back, Margaret,” Norman said, looking up with pure adoration.

Scooping the child into her arms, Margaret smoothed her red hair and carried her to the dining table.

A quiet sigh escaped her as she surveyed the room. This bunch was undeniably loud, a chaotic crew she’d somehow gathered. Yet, in this unfamiliar interstellar world, they had become her territory, her sanctuary. -a family she could trust with her back.

Night deepened.

Fresh from a shower, Margaret sat cross-legged on the plush sofa in her bedroom, clad in a silk robe. A holographic projection hovered before her, displaying Irene’s meticulously compiled dossier.

Cheiron’s efficiency was impressive. In under two hours, he’d unearthed every detail of Irene’s life.

Her origins lay in the slums. Through sheer academic brilliance, she won a place at the Imperial Academy of Administration. Yet, with no influential backing, her post-graduation assignment was a dead-end clerk position at the Female Protection Center. Over a decade of relentless struggle, navigating purely by her wits and determination, she had clawed her way up to the role of Customer Service Supervisor.

Irene had no familial ties to bind or blind her. Her sole vulnerability was a younger brother, suffering from a costly genetic disorder. To fund his exorbitant medical treatments, Irene worked tirelessly, year-round, willing to risk everything.

A clear weakness, sharp ambition, and formidable intelligence.

Margaret scrolled through the virtual data, a satisfied smile touching her lips.

A perfect candidate.

Her mind was already weaving plans to maneuver Irene into the Cabinet when a soft knock sounded at her bedroom door.

“Come in,” she said.

The door swung open.

Tyrone and Quentin stepped inside.

It was the first time the twins had entered her private quarters.

The room was steeped in Margaret’s unique scent, mingled with the fresh dampness from her bath. The aroma made the two SSS-class males unconsciously draw a deeper breath.

Tyrone wore a simple black shirt, the top buttons undone, revealing his collarbone. Quentin was still in his combat gear, though now clean of bloodstains and carrying a faint trace of soap.

“Ms. Greene, hope we’re not intruding?” Tyrone closed the door behind him, his green eyes sweeping the room before settling on her.

“Something you need?” Margaret dismissed the hologram, her gaze shifting between the identical faces- one smiling amiably, the other cold and impassive.

“Just a status update.” Tyrone moved to the sofa, relaxing into it with casual ease. “Quentin has reassigned an elite shadow squad from the black market to handle perimeter security. That frees up Aegis to accompany you on outings.”

Quentin remained standing by the sofa, his silent gaze fixed on the damp strands of Margaret’s hair.

“Good. Margaret rose and walked over. “Darien is still watching closely. Once we get Irene positioned. secure control over finance and internal affairs, and reshape the power structure… then we’ll make our move back to Terminus Planet”
