“Who needs your money?” Baar shot back, glaring. “I’ve already arranged for the latest defensive gear to be delivered to your new place this afternoon. I’m wrapping things up here soon. Just wait till I get back!”
The call ended abruptly. Margaret shook her head at the darkened screen.
Even after all this time, Baar’s rough-edged way of showing concern hasn’t changed.
Margaret said, sipping her water, “Irene has handled the arrangements. With Darien gone, the old noble faction is in chaos. The villa by Emerald Lake is ready. We’ll move there after breakfast.”
Her eyes shifted to Norman, who was seated beside Timothy. The girl was hunched over, idly poking at a sausage on her plate, strands of red hair falling cutely across her cheeks.
Margaret said, “Norman.”
At the sound of her name, Norman set down her fork and straightened up. “Yes, Margaret?”
Margaret studied her for a moment, fingers tapping lightly on the table. “Darien is dead, and most of the royal family’s resistance has crumbled. There’s no need to hide your identity any longer.”
The words hung in the air, and everyone at the table stilled.
Norman’s shoulders curled inward, fear flashing in her eyes. She was raised as a male heir; her true gender had been kept secret even from the closest servants—all to protect her. The thought of stepping into the light as a girl now filled her with instinctive dread.
“Margaret… will the bad people come after us again?” she whispered.
“No need to be afraid. I’m here,” Margaret replied, her tone steady and reassuring.
She paused, letting her voice soften. “You are the future empress. You shouldn’t have to live like a shadow. Being a woman isn’t a weakness-it’s your greatest strength in securing the throne. Understand?”
Cheiron chimed in from across the table, “Her Grace is right. I’ll have the Academy of Sciences prepare an authoritative genetic report. Once the news breaks, the neutral factions will rally to your side.”
Tyrone nodded in agreement, “Once your identity is made public, what remains of the old nobility will lose all legitimate footing. They were planning to back a distant branch of the family, but with a true female heir in the picture, their arguments will fall apart.”
Though the intricacies of politics escaped her, Norman understood one thing clearly: with Margaret here, she was safe. She nodded firmly. “I’ll do as you say, Margaret.”
Satisfied, Margaret was about to return to her meal when a sudden clatter echoed through the room.
Timothy’s silver cutlery had fallen onto the plate. He stared wide-eyed, his blue eyes full of shock. His. gaze darted between Margaret and Norman.
After stuttering for a while, he finally managed to say, “Wait a minute. My Lady, did you just say… Norman… is a female?!”

Timothy was beside himself. He jumped up, grabbing his hair in frustration. “How can she be a girl? She’s a prince! Everyone in the galaxy knows she’s a prince!”
“Lesley changed her gender records to protect her,” Cheiron explained calmly.
“But!” Timothy was almost hopping up and down. “I just had the Hurst Group’s high-end brand work overnight to make thirty sets of the latest boys’ clothing! All handmade! Even the cufflinks were made from pink diamonds!”
He pointed at Norman, looking heartbroken. “Thirty sets! All made to men’s sizes. And now you tell me she’s a girl?!”
Margaret was getting a headache from his ranting. She rubbed her temples. “Return them and have them remade. You’re the heir to an interstellar fortune. Can’t you afford it?”
“It’s not about the money!” Timothy whined, sidling up to Margaret like a big, golden retriever looking for an explanation. “I put so much effort into it! I even picked the colors that would match her red hair perfectly!”
