The compound that had once stood as a fortress of pride, warmth, and harmony with the warriors had withered. The corridor now felt colder, heavy with silence, as if everyone was afraid they would be punished if they made a loud noise.

The once carefree pack, as carefree as the moon, had darkened. Every glance carried unease, every step seemed watched, and they could no longer relax since their previous Luna, Scarlett, had left.

Now, in their hearts, their Alpha Alexander was no longer the pillar of strength they remembered. He was not the same Alpha. He had become paranoid, easily angered, and seemed to find joy in his people’s suffering.

He had changed ever since Faye arrived. In their hearts, they wished someone would bring Faye down. No one wanted a Luna like her, who only ruled over them with tyranny. However, they lacked the power to resist and could do nothing about it.

All they could do was lower their heads and follow commands, even when they wanted to refuse. After all, they had witnessed what happened to one member who was punished by Faye for calling her wicked- whispering in Alexander’s ear to do evil things, and saying it would be better if she never became Luna.

For that small offense, Faye had become furious and ordered her followers to torture and execute the woman immediately. After executing the protestor in front of everyone, she coldly declared that anyone who dared to act like her would face the same fate.

Witnessing this, fear and hatred rooted themselves deep in their hearts.

Faye brushed her fingers across her swollen belly, lips pressed tight as she listened to the shrill voice echoing down the hall. It was Alexander screaming again. Yelling at the guards, at the servants, at himself.

It had been this way ever since Lucien beat Alexander into a pulp back when Faye had ordered the butchers to kidnap Scarlett. Who would have thought Alexander would actually go there and manage to rescue Scarlett before those four burly, lustful men Faye had paid in advance could force Scarlett into submission?

After that, though Alexander was healed, his legs became limp. Every time he saw someone looking at him or even laughing, he was triggered and would beat the person to a pulp.

The proud Alpha of the Crescent Moon had become crippled. His once proud frame seemed smaller, hunched. Sometimes he forgot his own words; other times he lashed out with fists or claws at anyone close enough to catch his wrath.

Faye had seen his attendants bleed more than once because of him. Even she had tasted her own blood.

Alexander had slammed her against the headboard, his eyes red with fury, as if he wanted to kill someone- only Faye had stood in his way when he heard the news that Lucien had announced to everyone that Scarlett

She told herself this couldn’t go on any longer. She would get rid of Scarlett as soon as possible, before Alexander truly lost his mind.

If it weren’t for that woman, Faye would be happy. If Scarlett had never crossed their paths and become the obstacle, she would have already been the Luna of the Crescent Moon by now. Fully respected by everyone, never compared to Scarlett. Fully loved. Now she had been humiliated and tossed aside, even as she bore Alexander’s heir for a man who barely recognized her anymore!

Hatred kept blooming in her heart.

She wanted Scarlett gone. Dead.

And since Lucien kept protecting her, Faye promised herself to do something grand that would make Lucien hate Scarlett and turn everyone else against her.

“Lady Faye, here’s the report,” a scout said politely, handing over a parchment.

Faye gritted her teeth as she sat on the bed, holding her bulging stomach, and read it.

After finishing, the corner of her lips curved up, a wicked, calculating expression overtaking her face. “You mean to say the captives supposed to be executed today are dead–and it looked like it was done by rogues since their bodies were found in the cage?”

Though the scout was trembling, he nodded. “Yes, my lady.”

Faye laughed aloud and threw the parchment on the ground. “It must have been Scarlett! No one else would free them but her. She’s merciful to her people and those captives had even defended her in the council.”

The scout said nothing. Faye clicked her tongue and glared. “Get out of my sight. Now!”

The scout hurried away as Faye stood up, walking toward Alexander’s chamber. Before entering, she adjusted her expression and let tears fall down her face as she went in, trembling.

“A–Alpha…”

Alexander looked at her coldly. “What is it?”

“S–she freed them,” Faye’s voice trembled as she walked toward him and clutched his arm. “She infiltrated our pack and freed the captives who were supposed to be executed today. She even disguised them as dead so we wouldn’t pursue her.”

Hearing this, Alexander’s dead eyes sparked. He looked at her with a crazed smile. “She was here?”

Faye’s eyes darkened for a moment, but she replaced it with a look of love. “Yes…. she’s with Lucien, and I’m sure it was Lucien who gave Scarlett the idea.”

Alexander’s eyes darkened and his jaw clenched. “That damn Lucien again. I’ll kill him! It’s because of him

Seeing he was about to go berserk again, Faye moved to change the topic. “The Nightshade–Lucien is mocking us for sure. Will you let him destroy our pack?”

Alexander’s gaze landed on her. “And? What should we do? Wage war on them?”

Faye’s eyes shined as she nodded. “Yes! So they won’t look down on us or think they can do whatever they want! This is an insult! If that bastard Lucien were gone, what do you think would happen?”

Alexander paused, rethinking.

The more he thought, the crazier his expression became.

“If I bring down Nightshade, there’s a chance Scarlett will come back to me.”

With fury in her heart, Faye forced a smile and nodded. “Right. She will come back to you if Lucien dies along with Nightshade.”

Alexander’s eyes flickered. He stared at her as if searching for any dissatisfaction in her expression. “You’re not jealous?”

Faye sighed and leaned against his arm. “I am, but what can I do if you really love her? As long as you don’t leave me and treat me with affection, I can endure it. After all, I don’t want to watch the man I love destroy himself.”

Alexander laughed and pulled her into his arms, gently caressing her stomach. “Good girl. You are the one who understands me the most. Scarlett could never.”

Faye just laughed, though her heart was bleeding inside.

“What if I want Scarlett as my Luna, would you allow it?” he asked.

Faye gritted her teeth but forced a sweet smile. “I want to be your Luna, of course. But if you really want her, then I’ll be okay with it. I’ll stay with you, give birth to our child, and warm your bed. You know I’d do anything for you.”

The effect was immediate. His entire body shifted. For the first time in weeks, his eyes softened.

He touched her cheek–not with violence, but with tenderness.

“Good girl,” he murmured. “I love you.” He bent and pressed a kiss to her hair. “Don’t worry, I’ll treat you well even if I make Scarlett my Luna again.”

Faye closed her eyes, hiding the darkness burning inside her. He couldn’t see it. He could never learn of her plan.

All Faye wanted now was Scarlett’s demise.
