Third Person’s POV

The horns of Nightshade rang across the valley–marking that an enemy had infiltrated their territory and signaling the warriors to fend them off. They gathered in formation, holding their shields and blades gleaming as they let out a thunderous roar.

The air already reeked of iron, cries, and howls.

Lucien stood at the front; his expression was grim and dark. His black cloak rippled in the freezing wind, and his presence alone made the warriors pause and calm down, taking a breath and feeling reassured to fight because Lucien was there.

They also glanced at their Luna, who was composed. Her eyes were cold, sweeping over the enemies who were marching towards them while also displaying the heads of the scouts from the Nightshade Pack

Upon seeing this, the warriors who had been nervous earlier had their auras change. Their eyes now looked coldly at the enemies, as if they couldn’t wait to kill the one who had murdered their brothers.

“I’ll fucking kill that man flaunting our brother’s head‘ How dare he disrespect our brother like that” Garrick. one of Nightshade’s warriors, gritted his teeth and tightened his grip on his weapon.

“I’ll take the one on his left side.”

“Okay, I’ll take the one on the left.”

Scarlett, hearing their discussion, let out a soft chuckle. Her serious expression easily broke after seeing that the warriors now seemed unafraid and were actively discussing who they would kill, which made the enemies gnash their teeth in fury when they overheard.

“Go wild, Nightshade! Come back alive!” Lucien coldly commanded, making the warriors shout in excitement, amusement, and for some, fury.

Scarlett paused, stunned by Lucien’s command. She thought she would hear some strategic planning, like who would take the east side or the west side. It was quite different from what she had done and imagined

Lucien glanced at Scarlett, looking at her with a serious expression. “I believe you can handle them without getting injured, right?”

Scarlett looked at him and smirked. “You bet.”

Hearing this, the corner of Lucien’s lips rose in a smirk. “That’s my Luna.”

The valley trembled. Crescent Moon’s troops had already appeared, and Scarlett happened to see Alexander, who was just watching the show like a specter. He didn’t lead the war–he let Kade lead it along with Kade’s pack members. Faye was even there, protected by Alexander. She was smiling, smirking at Scarlett with provocation while gently touching her stomach.

Scarlett’s eyes darkened. As expected, it was that scheming woman who had planned this war.

Scarlett coldly watched as Alpha Kade drew his blade, his sneer carved into his face, pointing it directly at Lucien. “Nightshade!” he shouted. “Your reign ends today! Your Alpha will fall, and his Luna will follow!”

Lucien stepped forward, his lips curling into a cold smirk. “Now that Alexander is backing you, you already think so highly of yourself that you can defeat me. Remember, who was the one who swore to me not to mess with us again?”

Alpha Kade’s face reddened as the warriors laughed at him. “Shut up! I’ll kill you and your slut Luna!”

Lucien’s eyes darkened, his aura changing. “Say that again?”

“What? Can’t accept the fact that your Luna is already a loose woman-” Before he could finish his words, Lucien, who had been standing several meters away, had already appeared in front of him and swung his blade.

If Kade hadn’t reacted in time, his own head would have been rolling on the ground right now instead of his Beta’s.

Kade watched as his Beta slowly closed his eyes, his head falling and rolling at his feet.

Kade’s

eyes reddened with fury as he looked at Lucien. “How dare you!”

Lucien coldly chuckled. “Your head is next. Mark my words.”

Kade attacked first, and Lucien defended himself with his weapon. Sparks flew as their weapons clashed.

Kade pushed with brutal strength, grinning with sharp teeth. “You’ve grown soft, Lucien. Too busy pampering your Luna to remember how to fight like a true Alpha! You’ve gone weak!”

Lucien shoved him back, his eyes cold. “Whatever you say, Kade.”

Kade’s grin widened. He feigned a lunge with his blade but kicked dirt into Lucien’s face. Lucien snarled, slashing blindly, but Kade darted to the side and struck his ribs with the blunt edge of his hilt. The crack of impact made Scarlett’s heart stop.

“Lucien!” she screamed, cutting down the Crescent warrior before her with a single decisive strike. Her eyes faintly glowed as she stared toward Lucien alone, directly killing those who tried to block her.

Her boots slid sideways over the blood–soaked dirt as she tried to reach Lucien.

However, before she could reach him, someone blocked her path.

A towering figure stared coldly at her. His aura was suffocating, the kind that made wolves step back without realizing it. Scarlett froze for half a second before recognition hit her like lightning.

He was familiar.

“Well, we meet again, Luna.” His voice was cold and hoarse as he looked at her.

The Blackblood Alpha.

Scarlett’s breath caught in her throat. Memories slammed into her–his Luna’s hollow eyes, the bruises hidden beneath her sleeves, the way she had said she was afraid to defy her Alpha but was willing to help her get her bill approved, and the trembling hands clutching papers after Scarlett’s bill was passed.

Scarlett had seen her at the back of the council hall. She attended while hiding her identity, afraid her Alpha might find out. Scarlett didn’t speak to her after the bill passed, but as soon as their eyes met, the Luna bowed gently, her eyes curved. Compared to before, her eyes shined after the bill had passed.

They didn’t get a chance to speak since the Luna immediately left.

And now, the Alpha who had made his Luna suffer was blocking her way.

Scarlett looked at him coldly. “Oh, it’s you.”

“You,” his voice was low and filled with hatred. “Because of you…. because of your meddling… I lost her! I lost my Luna!”

Scarlett steadied her grip on her blade, looking at him with disgust and mockery. “You didn’t lose her because of me. You lost her because you broke her.”

“You bitch!”

The Alpha’s eyes bulged with fury. He roared, swinging his sword down with enough force to split stone. Scarlett blocked, her knees bending under the weight, sparks flying from the clash.

“She was mine!” he spat. “A Luna doesn’t leave her Alpha! She wouldn’t have dared leave me if it weren’t for you! You poisoned her mind!”

Scarlett shoved his blade back, letting out a cold chuckle with a hint of sarcasm. “Oh really? I only gave her the courage to break free from you. You lost her because you didn’t cherish her. You did this to yourself. You can only blame yourself!”

The Alpha grew even angrier at Scarlett’s words. He lunged at her again, but Scarlett sidestepped, slashing across his shoulder. Blood sprayed, but he didn’t flinch–his madness ran deeper than pain. He couldn’t accept that his own Luna had run away from him–had escaped his grasp.
