Chapter 146
Chapter 146
Scarlett’s POV
“You can open your eyes now.”
I helplessly opened my eyes and looked up at the woman named Natasha. She had already brought me into their pack-the Dark Moon Pack. She had me lie down on the soft mattress while I pretended to be knocked out by her earlier.
Lucien’s angry and helpless voice still echoed within me, but I hardened my heart and pretended to remain unconscious to discover Natasha’s true intentions. Despite Kaya’s

“What? Am I wrong?” I asked again, glaring at her.
Natasha composed herself, but a smirk remained on her lips as she walked toward me, making me tense up. After all, I didn’t know what she planned to do next.
As she raised her hand, I braced myself defensively, waiting for her to strike-but all she did was flick my forehead.
“Just what is going on in your mind?” she chuckled.
I paused, then asked, “Am I wrong?”
She laughed and sat down beside me. “I’m flattered you think I have that power, but I’m not a god, nor can I resurrect the dead. That would violate the laws of nature.”
Before I could speak, she added, “I do wish I could see my daughter-your mother-again, and maybe scold her for running off with a man and dying early. But I can’t resurrect her. I’m simply not able.”
I frowned, still wary of her. “Then why go so far as to kidnap me?”
“Kidnap? How is it kidnapping? I am your grandmother!” she exclaimed, eyes wide.
I looked at her-she seemed ageless. There wasn’t a single wrinkle on her face, and she looked so youthful, as if she were in her thirties. It explained why we’d mistaken her for the queen’s right-hand woman. I even imagined the queen might be too old to move and stuck in bed, yet here she was, still looking young.
Natasha sighed as she observed me. “You really resemble your mother, especially her fox-like eyes.”
“So why did you want me to come here?” I asked.
She clicked her tongue. “You’re boring.”
I rolled my eyes and stayed quiet.
“Well, I just wanted to play the villain for a while,” she laughed, making me glare at her.
She cleared her throat and added, “I don’t trust that man you call your Alpha.”
She didn’t let me argue before she swore under her breath. “It’s frustrating I didn’t get here in time to kidnap you before you two marked each other!”
So you really did kidnap me, huh?

impregnate another woman, and destroy a sacred bond!”
She gritted her teeth in anger. “Because of that bastard I was delayed! I would’ve had a chance to stop you and Lucien from marking one another. Now you’re bonded to another Alpha and carrying his child!”
I paused. Got delayed because of that man?
Was she talking about Alexander?
As if reading my mind, she nodded and admitted, “Yes. I only woke up a month ago, but my people wouldn’t allow me to leave this place! I am the queen, you know! But they dared to lock me up!”
She sighed again and added, “You see, they only informed me recently about everything, especially concerning your mother and you. I was devastated to learn your mother died because her body had grown weak. If I hadn’t been so proud and just allowed her to be with that Beta-and given her an antidote for the poison-maybe she would still be alive.”
My eyes darkened. “Why? You had plenty of time to give it to her?”
Natasha shook her head. “There was a war when she ran away. Just like the rumors said, we all used our abilities-a curse cast on me by the Moon Goddess, passed down to my people, to my child, to you. After we won, we were comatose for decades after returning home.”
My heart ached as I remembered my strange behavior during Alexander’s attack on our pack.
So, it was that little event that made me unconscious for a month.
“I heard you displayed the same curse as us, and slept deeply for a month.” As she spoke, she reached out and patted my head. “It’s less severe for you, so you can use it for only a short time, then will revive faster-so you were asleep just for a month.”
My heart thudded. Damn. If I had used that power for even half an hour more, and if Kaya hadn’t helped me regain consciousness, I might have slept for decades too!
“But why are we cursed?” I asked once my thoughts had settled.
Natasha stiffened and sighed heavily, pulling her hands to her temples. “It’s personal, and the reason the Moon Goddess was angry with me.”
I raised my eyebrows. “Love triangle?”
She rolled her eyes and pinched my cheek. “No! If the Moon Goddess heard that… we’d be done for! And mind your tone with your grandmother!”
“Yes, grandma.”
