Chapter 145
Chapter 145
Third Person’s POV
Scarlett happened to see the stationed warriors that Lucien had commanded to watch every part of the place and, if someone or something unfamiliar arrived, to kill it directly. She knew that Lucien had doubled the patrol and guarded the ceremonial ground-after all, the woman they met yesterday had said she would come back to take her by force if she struggled. This had made Lucien grow more alert.
She looked at Lucien, who was gazing at her tenderly, his eyes filled with encouragement as if he were saying that it was all right. This warmed her heart, but despite that, her hands trembled as she reached for him. Her throat tightened when she remembered the ugly scar she had on the back of her neck—it was an old mark on her nape that she had dissolved, and now she was about to have another one.
It was a previous bond that had almost ruined her.
Now, she did not know why she felt this way, but she was nervous and terrified to let Lucien see it, let alone mark the scar that was already on her nape. She only wanted him to see the goodness in her, the flawless parts, but she knew Lucien accepted her for who she was.
She just wanted to give him the flawless version of herself-was that wrong?
Lucien, who had been watching her, stepped closer, leaned towards her ear, and gently brushed his hand over Scarlett’s nape, making her shiver.
“It’s okay, little wolf. You don’t need to be cautious with me. You know that I love everything about you, don’t you?”
Before Scarlett could speak, she saw Lucien’s face draw closer as he leaned down, his lips brushing against the scar on her neck.
Scarlett bit her lower lip, her lips curling as her eyes reddened while Lucien pressed another kiss onto her nape. It was slow and full of affection, as if he wanted her to know that the scar didn’t make her less-in fact, it made her even more lovable-before his teeth sank into her
skin.
A gasp tore from Scarlett’s lips at the sharp pain, her fingers clutching his arm. But then warmth exploded through her, a rush of power and connection searing into her soul. It was like the Moon Goddess whispering to her, ‘this time, value the connection you have with your Alpha. You belong to him, and he belongs to you.’
Lucien’s tongue gently licked over the wound, soothing the sting that Scarlett had felt, and his hands were steady against her waist.
When it was Scarlett’s turn, her hands trembled. As she leaned forward and pressed her lips

against the warm skin on his nape, her heart trembled. After all, this would be the first time she had marked someone-and she was happy that she could finally say that he belonged to her-that she had finally marked her Alpha.
She closed her eyes, sank her teeth into his skin, and tasted iron as blood trickled across her
tongue.
She had finally marked him as hers. Her bonded Alpha.
The moment she released him, a surge of energy flared brightly, pulsing between the two bonded individuals, giving them a living thread that connected them heart to heart.
Scarlett could feel his heartbeat, his emotions, and his love as if they were her own.
Cheers echoed from the crowd as they finally bonded.
“Alpha! Luna! Let’s have another banquet later!”
“Finally, you’re bonded-now nothing can get in your way!”
“Ahh! I’m so happy for both of you-and jealous that I haven’t found my mate yet!”
The corner of Scarlett’s lips lifted upon hearing their shouts. Her eyes happened to meet Lucien’s. His gaze was so soft and tender she nearly melted from it.
The priest let out a cough, silencing everyone as they listened to his announcement.
He raised his hands, his voice firm. “With these marks, you are bonded eternally, Alpha and Luna. Now I may pronounce that-”
The air suddenly grew heavy. A strange chill swept over the crowd, replacing the joyful celebration. Shadows thickened unnaturally at the edges of the ceremonial ground, twisting and stretching until they seemed alive.
And then, a cold yet familiar voice spoke.
“Too late.”
Lucien quickly wrapped his arms around Scarlett’s waist as his face darkened, mirroring Scarlett’s sigh of relief.
“It’s a good thing we finished our ceremony before she arrived,” Scarlet remarked, her

acting like this–after all, what do they really want from me?”
Lucien agreed. “That’s why it’s dangerous if they catch you. We don’t know what they would do, after all-they’re notorious for evil practices: poisons, medicines, elixirs…”
They watched as the tall woman stepped out from the darkness. Her presence radiated such power that the warriors stepped back. Her eyes glowed red, stifling the air-identical to what Scarlett had unleashed during the battle weeks ago.
Kathleen’s face turned pale. “S-She came back!”
Arnold’s hand flew to his weapon, along with Nick, who also stood, readying his weapon for battle.
“It’s the Dark Moon!”
Before anyone could react, the woman blurred forward. Her speed was unnatural, faster than the eye could track.
One moment Scarlett was in Lucien’s arms-the next, the woman had kicked Lucien hard in the stomach and, in that instant, scooped Scarlett away. Her arm locked around Scarlett’s waist as though Scarlett weighed no more than a sack of grain.
“Fuck! Let-”
Before Scarlett could resist further, the woman struck her neck with a flick, using just enough strength not to break bones or kill her. Scarlett went limp instantly.
The woman glanced at the mark on Scarlett’s neck and clicked her tongue, her face dark. “Fuck. I’m too late. Now I’ll have to go through so much trouble to unbind their marks. What a nuisance.”
“Scarlett!” Lucien’s roar shook the ground, his eyes blazing at the woman.
He lunged forward, but the woman blocked him with a swift motion. Lucien’s fist collided with her arm, the impact cracking bone. She staggered back half a step, her expression grave, but she didn’t hiss in pain even though her arm was broken by Lucien’s blow.
For the first time, someone had fought her and managed to break her bone. Still, she used her hands to grip Scarlett tightly, ensuring no one could take her away.
It was as if the pain meant nothing to her.
Her eyes landed on the Alpha Scarlett had chosen.
Not bad.
It would be dangerous to stay here any longer.

“Give her back to me and I’ll pretend this never happened,” Lucien said coldly, his voice vibrating. His wolf surged beneath his skin, muscles taut with power.
The woman chuckled. “She belongs to us, the Dark Moon. We’ve been waiting for her arrival. Why would we give her back?”
Lucien’s lips peeled back in a snarl. “Since you won’t give back my Luna, I’ll kill you instead.”
The ground trembled as the two collided, exchanging blow after blow. Lucien’s strikes were fueled by fury, each swing deadly-but the woman was no ordinary opponent. She moved
with fluid precision, blocking his every blow, ignoring the wounds on her body.
