“Are your eyes really not hurting?”

The corner of my lips raised. I shook my head and answered gently. “It doesn’t hurt and I’m not lying to not make you hot worried either.”

“I’m guessing that this blindfold grandma had given to me might have such effects–but I remembered I didn’t feel uncomfortable either when I woke up that’s why I thought you never turned on the lights.” I let out an amusing chuckle “Who would have thought it was because I was blind.”

“That’s what you get for being stubborn,” he clicked his tongue and his hand reached out, directly pinching my cheeks knowing I couldn’t escape from his clutches.

I pouted, slapping those hands. “Is this how you would talk to your wife, huh?”

Before he could retort, a familiar voice greeted us warmly in this basement where they had kept Agatha and used different methods to keep her alive while at the same time, they had used tools to make her spit out informations regarding about the mastermind behind the kidnapping case.

“Alpha. Luna, you’re here.” It was none other than Arnold. “It’s just that this woman was hard to pry on and she had been trying to commit suicide so we had focus more on trying to preserve her life and stop her from killing herself.”

I nodded my head. “You’ve worked hard. You and Nick.”

“It’s nothing, Luna,” he chuckled sheepishly. “You know that I just love experiments and interesting things–the poison on her molar was really interesting.”

“Oh? What did you found?” Lucien intervene.

“Well, these poisons were rare and there were only two families who used to make it.”

I raised my brows. “Used? You mean not anymore?”

Arnold hummed. “One was from Nick’s family. Their family used to make different kinds of poison–that’s why Nick’s body was immune to any type of poison.”

Indeed, I had heard about Nick’s background before. His family had been making poisons–but his family had all died when Nick’s brother had poisoned everyone in his family, completely leaving a ten–year–old nick, who was already immune to poisons.

He had pretended to be poisoned and faked his death. He watched as his brother took every of their parents position as if it was his. He was as his brother seemed to have been lost by his own delusion, abusing omegas, using poisons to poisoned them while doing something obscene.

That was then Nick vowed to kill his brother.

And from what I heard from Arnold who loves to chatter, Nick had managed to kill his brother at the age of thirteen. He buried his family, and burned the pack–leaving nothing to he used.

“And the other one?” Lucien asked, snapping me back from my thoughts.

“The other one is from the Montero Pack,” Arnold said. “Since Nick’s family–well, his brother and his family had long been dead, it’s impossible that it was them.”

I let out a helpless sigh.

It also seemed that Nick really didn’t mind it and had already used Arnold being like this–he really had a magnanimous

heart.

From what the rumor says, Arnold had also used Nick as his experiment–to test the poisons.

These two are really nuts.

I turned my head, frowning as I looked at Lucien. “Who are they? The Montero?”

Lucien rubbed his forehead and shook his head. “If the Nightshade Pack is the highest in the East, then the Montero Pack is the highest in the North.”

“But I don’t seem to hear about them participating in any events, even a social gathering and even fights.” I frowned.

Lucien nodded. “Yes, they usually don’t engage with those things that’s why although they were seen as the famous and with authority in the North, most people there think that they were a bunch of cowards.”

“If that’s the case, why would they have to come to the east to mess with the Nightshade? If the mastermind is really part of the Montero Pack, why did they target our child and the other kids? For what purpose?” I couldn’t help but frown further about this but I feel like there’s something more deeper than this.

Before I could think further, Lucien gently patted my head. “Stop thinking about it. I’ll investigate it thoroughly along with Arnold and Nick, but for now, let’s interrogate the Nanny. I’m sure there are some important clues we can pry from her.”

Just like what he said, both of us had entered the cell where Agatha had been locked.

Although I couldn’t see, I could hear the clang sound of the chain that bound her.

I felt Lucien bend down slightly to match my ears. “She’s right in front of us, five steps away. Her hands and feet were both bound by large silver chains that prevent her from escaping or hurting herself. She was currently sitting on the ground. There was a soft cotton on the back of her head just in case she would decide to ram her head until she died. Her mouth was forced open too, she’s been gagged to prevent her from using anything to kill herself–just as she planned to use the poison on her molars and kill herself.”

The way he explained things–so carefully, so patiently–made it feel as though I could truly see what lay before me. Whenever he noticed my pause, the slight hesitation that meant I was wondering what was happening around us, he would describe it in such vivid detail.

Every color, every movement, every small expression.

He spoke until even I could picture it clearly, as if the darkness no longer mattered, as if I weren’t blind at all.

The corner of my lips slightly raised as I walked five steps like he said and stopped in front of Agatha.

“Take away her gauge. I want to hear her talk.” I calmly said while ‘looking‘ down on her.

Arnold and Nick, who were following us, spoke–well, it was Arnold who spoke.

Arnold paused for a second before he said to Nick. “Can you remove her gag? Use the gloves.”

Hearing that the gag was removed, I could finally hear Agatha’s voice that was hoarse and desperate.
