Chapter 206 He Was Poisoned
Scarlett
I couldn’t wait to see my kids
Especially that it has been a while ever since they have seen me but for me, it feels like what happened was all still yesterday–it was still fresh for me.
Lucien had told me that the kids had been worried about me, constantly asking him to let them see me yet Lucien would decline it.
Now that I wake up, the first thing I want to see if my kids to see what they are up to and how they were doing. “They miss you too, the same way you miss them,” I heard Lucien say that made my heart soften.
The corner of my lips raised as I was about to walk towards the door along with Lucien who was also following me.
Before my hand could even twist the doorknob, we both paused when we heard an urgent knock.
Lucien and I look at each other Lucien stepped forward, protecting me in front as he was the one who opened the door. “Who-”
“Alpha! The kids are in danger!” Kane hoarsely shouted, coughing up with blood. “Shun… that traitor!”
My eyes widened, my whole body stood frozen upon hearing it. My kids had been targeted again under our noses and the one who targeted them was none other than Shun.
Shun who had been with us through thick and thin–yet he chose to betray us.
My gaze locked onto Kane.
His body was battered–no, brutalized. It was obvious at a glance. Both of his arms hung unnaturally at his sides, broken to the point he couldn’t even lift them. Blood dripped steadily onto the floor beneath him, pooling slowly, yet not once did he groan or hiss from the pain. His entire body trembled, not from fear, but from sheer exhaustion and blood loss.
There were deep red marks around his wrists and torso–rope burns. He must have forced himself free, tearing through them with nothing but his own strength.
His face was deathly pale, as if life had been drained out of him. Even without a physician’s words, I knew–his condition was critical.
Yet he was still standing.
Still holding on.
Just to warn us.
Gratitude hit me like a crushing wave. If he hadn’t come–if he hadn’t forced himself here–we would’ve never known that the traitor was already among us. Under our roof. Roaming freely. Targeting my children.
“I never expected him to betray us,” Kane gritted out through clenched teeth. “So I never raised my guard against him.”
He coughed violently, blood spilling from his lips, yet he wiped it away as if it were nothing.
“He struck me from behind,” he continued hoarsely. “Beat me single–handedly.”
My chest tightened.
r
“I’m sorry,” he said, his voice steady despite everything. “I failed my duty. I’ll accept whatever punishment awaits me for failing to protect the children.”
I shook my head sharply and moved past him.
“Where are they?”
“The kids‘ room,” he answered without hesitation.
I nodded. “Thank you. Sit down–rest on the sofa for now. We’ll handle the children first.”
Before Kane could protest, Lucien spoke, his voice cold and decisive.
“I’ve already notified the physician.”
He reached the wall beside the door and pressed the silver hell embedded near the light switch–the signal directly connected to the physician’s ward.
“They’ll be here shortly.”
Successfully unlocked!
Kane nodded his head weakly and had chosen to lie onto the carpet and passed out.
Chapter 206 He Was Poisoned
As much as I wanted to get Kane treated right away, I knew nothing would happen to him, but the situation for was still uncertain.
Both Lucien and I looked at each other as we both sprinted to the children’s room.
my children
Lucien had already ordered the pack to seal off the gates–and every other possible exit–without offering explanations. For now, no wolf was allowed to enter or leave the territory.
Precautions came first.
If that traitor Shun managed to take the children and escape, tracing them again would be nearly impossible.
Locking everything down was the smartest move. Patrols were on hight alert, instructed to notify the Alpha immediately at the slightest sign of suspicion.
I bit my lip. Fuck. Why did this keep happening?
“They’re still in their room,” Lucien said, snapping me out of my spiraling thoughts as we broke into a run.
I looked at him in surprise. “How do you know?”
“The tracker,” he replied, glancing at me. “I customized one and put it on them. No matter where they go, I’ll know. I put one on you too.
”
Relief flooded my chest. “Customize one for me as well–so I can locate you and the kids anytime.”
The coldness in his expression softened as he nodded.
“Already done. I’ll give it to you later.”
The moment we reached the room, Lucien didn’t hesitate.
He kicked the door open.
The sight inside made my vision shrink.
Shun stood there, his leg raised–about to strike–while the two children clung to each other in terror.
Before I could move,
He appeared in from cien was already there.
of Shun in a blur and drove his fist straight into his face. The impact sent Shun crashing into the wall
with a sickening crack, spiderweb fractures spreading through the stone as he coughed up blood.
“Who-?!” Shun snarled, his eyes glowing red with fury.
Then his gaze landed on us.
His anger froze.
His eyes widened in horror.
“A–Alpha… Luna…” he stammered.
Every instinct in me screamed to tear him apart–to beat him into nothing but pulp–but I held myself back. I looked at Lucien, staring at each other and communicating with each other exchanging gazes.
As expected, he understood.
He nodded his head once and turned his back, kicking Shun on his stomach that was coughing up blood.
I turned my gaze back on my two children.
I rushed towards their direction, who were huddled beside the bed. My gaze immediately fell on Claude–his tall, broad
body shielding Archer completely, arms wrapped around the boy in a silent promise of protection.
As if sensing why the hit didn’t come, they raised their head to look up and see what was happening.
When they looked up, their eyes widened. Or more like, Archer’s eyes widened before the tears that he had been holding on had fallen from his cheeks.
“Mama…” he called out, his voice was trembling that it made my heart ache. “S…Save Claude… he got hurt and was poisoned.”
