Chapter 209 Look Well

In their spiritual form, wolves are visible only to their bearers and to those who share a deep bond with them. Only individuals who possess a connection to wolves can perceive them–and even then, only if the bearer allows it.
However, not everyone could get their wolves out of them or achieve the spiritual form, splitting the two and cutting their connection because it is dangerous if not done correctly and might lose the connection of the wolf forever or worse, they would die.
None had tried to attempt to do so–and none of the individuals knows about it either. It all had been buried in the stacks of book in the history and never been onced opened again.
It was also the reason why individuals could only shapeshift, transformed to a wolf, their senses would heightened if full moon, and they had extraordinary abilities–sharing the traits of a wolf.
“I’ll patrol the pack first and sniff out any threats that might endanger us,” Kaya said.
She lowered her head and affectionately nudged Archer’s cheek, earning a soft giggle from him. Then she gently brushed her muzzle against Claude, who was sleeping peacefully, careful not to wake him.
A low growl rumbled in her chest as her eyes lifted to meet mine. She gave me a meaningful look–one that needed no words.
Then she vanished.
“Mama, was that your wolf?” I heard Archer asked. “It was her who had taken me and Claude back then when we were kidnapped by bad adults, right?”
I nodded my head. “Yes, it was her.”
“Will I also have a wolf?” he asked out of curiosity, his brows furrowed, clearly thinking of that idea.
I chuckled. “Of course, you will. You always have a wolf within you–it’s just that it lays dormant since you’re not an adult yet.”
I paused and added. “Once you become an adult, your wolf will be awakened and just like me, you’ll be able to
communicate with him and also be able to use its abilities.”
“Like shape shifting?” he asked, his eyes were crystal clear.
The corner of my lips raised as I nodded my head. “Yes, that’s right.”
His eyes brightened in delight. “Can I see you shape shift to your werewolf form, mama?”
I paused, smiling helplessly and couldn’t refuse such a request from the most adorable kid in the world. “Of course. If there‘ s a chance, I will let you see it.”
I haven’t been able to shapeshift fully to my werewolf form for a long time, even when Kaya hasn’t lay dormant deep in my consciousness to help me recover fast. If I would shapeshift, it would be half transformation. A half humanoid form and a werewolf form.
Especially that my werewolf form is enormous and it would be easy to take a hit and who knows how huge it is if I would decide to shapeshift now, especially that Kaya had gotten stronger–even earlier inside my consciousness, I had seen how big and strong she had gotten.
However, since my child wants to see it, then I would let him see it.
I snapped back from my thoughts when I heard Kane called me to get my attention.
“Is there something wrong, Kane?” I asked, watching as he respectfully stood up, bandages all over his body, especially his head yet it seemed like he doesn’t mind it nor let it affect him.
“Kathleen wants to see you,” he said.
Hearing this, I paused and couldn’t help but softened. “Open the door and let her in. No need to ask me next time.”
Kane nodded his head in understanding. “Noted, Luna.”
I watched as he twisted the door knob, opening the door as Kathleen’s figure appeared.
The moment our eyes meet, her eyes brightened but I could see the hidden worries in them.
“Sca!” she called out as Kane closed the door after Kathleen stepped inside.
Kathleen couldn’t help but glanced at Kane who was injured. Her eyes widened.

“I had received the news that you get injured by that traitor Shun, but I never imagined it would be this worse.” Kathleen
gritted her teeth and anger flashed in her eyes while surveying Kane. “Are you okay now? You can just take a rest and have it easy. Just focus on recovering, no one will blame you.”
Indeed, I have been advising Kane the moment he had wake up to focus on recovering and do not dwell too much about what happened because it wasn’t his fault. However, he was still feeling guilty about letting his guard down and felt it was
his fault.
Because for him, if he held on and was always on guard, he would have managed to subdued Shun and he might not be able to come to the children and lead to Clause’s injuries.
That’s why he felt guilty and felt that he was responsible for it so to ease his guilt, I just let him do what he wanted. He had been guarding us the moment he woke up, and made sure that nothing could harm us ever again or even approach us easily.
He had been pushing himself too hard despite me telling him to rest, yet he wouldn’t do so and if there was nothing else for him to do, he would train at the corner of the room like simple push–ups or holding a barbell.
He was hardheaded and couldn’t accept what had happened so I let him be.
Kane, as expected, shook his head. “I’m doing well, and these wounds are nothing. Thanks for your concern, Miss Kathleen.”
Kathleen rolled his eyes and playfully slapped his shoulder. “What Miss Kathleen? Since when did you get polite? Did you hit your head or something?”
She clicked her tongue. “I already told you before to just call me by my name and besides, don’t be too overly polite with me, it makes my skin crawl.”
Hearing this, I couldn’t help but laugh.
Even the tight expression Kane had, slowly cracked.
As expected of Kathleen.
“Besides, don’t push yourself too hard. You haven’t even found your mate yet, and you’re already working yourself to death,” Kathleen commented lightly.
Kane’s shoulders, which had been tense moments ago, eased slightly before he shot back, “You have a mate. So where is he? Why hasn’t he visited you?”
Kathleen froze. The teasing smile on her lips faltered.
“I–I just missed staying here, that’s why I came back. And besides, I’ve been helping the pack! My presence here absolutely matters!”
“You still didn’t answer my question,” Kane replied calmly as he walked back to his previous spot and resumed training. “Did you get dumped?”
Kathleen looked like a cat whose tail had just been stepped on. “Dumped? What do you mean dumped?! I’m the one who dumped him!”
“Your reaction says otherwise,” Kane said flatly. “Seems like you were the one who got dumped.”
Her cheeks flushed red–half anger, half embarrassment. “I wasn’t! I curse you to never find your mare!”
“That’s fine. It’s not like I want one,” Kane answered nonchalantly.
Kathleen’s eyes widened in horror. “What? You don’t want to find your mate?! Did you get your heart broken early or get dumped or something? Is that why you’re scared of finding one?”
Kane remained expressionless. “It’s troublesome dealing with emotional matters. I’d rather kill enemies and devote myself to training.”
As if realizing something, Kathleen’s shoulders slumped and she let out a heavy sigh, reluctantly agreeing with his words. “Indeed… maybe it’s better not to find a mate at all,” she muttered.
Kane paused mid–stretch and glanced at her. “He dumped you?”
