“We’re here.”

Kaya’s voice echoed softly in my mind before her presence began to recede, slipping back into my consciousness to rest. Staying manifested for too long would strain my body. She always knew her limits–better than I did.

“That’s them,” she added quietly, her gaze fixed on three servants laughing among the others as if they had belonged there for years.

One named Shera. Another named Lira, and the other named Von.

Shera had freckles in her face which I doubt is maybe just part of her disguise. Lira had burn marks on the side of her face and Von… was unblemished. Rather than that, he was also tall that’s why he seemed popular among the servants and could easily win their trusts, that’s why he was the center of attention.

Wait, now that I mentioned it…isn’t it better if I would disguise myself instead? Why didn’t I think of that?

Since the kitchen is near, I hurriedly went inside the kitchen, stumbling upon the cook.

I shook my head. “Thank you but no need. Is there any clothes here like for servants or even for cooks?”

Despite that she was confused, she went to the nearest drawer and handed me clothes. “It’s clean, Luna.”

“Thank you.”

I smiled helplessly, not caring whether it was clean or not as I hurriedly took off my clothes and put the servant’s clothes on

The corner of my lips raised. “That’s the plan, and besides, you said that they aren’t part of the Nightshade so they haven’t seen Luna or might not be familiar with her, right?”

‘Indeed… I almost forgot about it,’ she said. ‘It seems you can handle it here. I’ll wake up right away once I could sense that you’re in a tight position.‘

I heard her yawn.

I chuckled and brushed it off. “Okay. Leave this to me. Thanks for your hard work.”

After saying that, she fell asleep in my consciousness.

“…you got a point there,” I softly answered, making all their eyes fell on me. “… I also don’t feel safe if the Luna who was protecting the pack is blind and weak who can’t protect herself.”

One of the maid, an omega who had a high ponytail which I believe her name is Fatima, brows furrowed, she looked at me up and down. “I don’t seem to see you. What station are you?”

I fidgeted my fingers, tightly grabbing my broom. “I…I was assigned in the cook but I just got kicked out and told me to sweep the leaves outside instead…”

Fatima rolled her eyes. “No womder you got kicked out. With your mouth and personality, I doubt you can last.”

I pressed my lips. “I… why do you think that way?”

Before Fatima could speak, Shera stepped in. “Don’t be too harsh on her… besides, I don’t think there’s something wrong with what she said.”

A faint silence fell between us.

Fatima crossed her arms, clearly annoyed. “What do you mean there’s nothing wrong? That’s our Luna you’re talking about.”

Shera lifted both hands defensively. “I’m not insulting her. I’m just being realistic. If she can’t see, how can she lead? Enemies won’t pity her just because she’s injured.”

Murmurs spread among the maids.

Lira tilted her head slightly, observing everyone’s reactions without speaking. Von, on the other hand, remained calm–too calm. His eyes shifted between each speaker, memorizing who defended me… and who hesitated.

He’s mapping loyalty.

I lowered my head, pretending to be timid. “I–I didn’t mean disrespect. It’s just… if the Luna really can’t see, doesn’t that make her vulnerable? What if the enemies come again?”

Fatima scoffed. “You talk as if you’ve never seen her fight.”

I tightened my grip on the broom. “I haven’t…”

That part wasn’t a lie–from their perspective.

Fatima’s expression softened just slightly. “Then you shouldn’t judge her. Even blind, she’s still stronger than most Alphas.” Shera’s freckles twitched as she forced a smile. “Strength is one thing. Leadership is another.”

Von finally spoke, his tone gentle, concerned. “Let’s not argue. We’re all just worried for the pack.”

Fatima sighed helplessly. “It’s just that… isn’t it disrespectful for us to talk this way to Luna? She had saved us a couple of times already–we can’t count how many times she had saved us and just because she had lost her eyesight, we should doubt her?”

Lira, who had been silent, spoke. “It’s not that we doubt her. It’s just that the situation right now is beyond our control. The enemies were lurking, waiting to get their advantage to strike while the iron was hot. Since the Luna had weakened, what do you think would happen?”

Von, who had been acting like the peacemaker, also nodded his head, looking like someone had forced him to agree with Lira’s words.
