Scarlett’s POV

I watched as Lucien hid me behind his back, his wolf materializing on his shoulder like a living shadow. Its luminous silver eyes glared directly at Kade’s soul.

The air grew heavier, thicker, as if the atmosphere itself recognized the danger in the room. The faint hum of conversation from the nearby banquet hall faded into silence in my mind, replaced by the slow, deliberate sound of Lucien’s breathing

His hand patted my back and he locked his gaze with mine. “Are you okay?*

I nodded and patted his hand. “Yes”

Alpha Kade, once so smug, instantly dropped to his knees in submission. His gaze lowered to the polished marble floor. refusing to meet the Alpha he had once insulted and envied.

His voice came out rushed, almost stumbling over itself in a scramble to justify what he had done to me earlier.

“… I didn’t know that she came with you, Alpha,” he said quickly. “We knew each other from before, so I thought that it’d be nice to chat and ask if she’s doing well, especially since I heard Alexander had a mistress outside…”

The word burned in my thoughts like a brand. His earlier touch still lingered uncomfortably on my back–a reminder of his arrogance deeply rooted in his soul.

I gritted my teeth and glared at him. When our eyes met, I saw the deep, unconcealed arrogance he harbored. His eyes glared back at me, as if warning me to keep quiet or else I wouldn’t like what would happen if I spoke up.

Did he really think he could order me and threaten me so easily?

I shot him a provocative smirk and leaned my whole body against Lucien, who seemed to take a step back and immediately wrapped his hand around my waist to steady me.

I started wiping my eyes and threw myself into Lucien’s arms. “H–He…….. he threatened me he touched me… he wants me to be his mate… I’m so scared…”

“He touched you?” Lucien’s voice was low. “He threatened and claimed you as his?”

Before I could nod and continue my act, Alpha Kade, who already saw through my performance, hurriedly tried to clear his name that was already tarnished.

“No, no, Alpha!” he protested. “I swear, I’m innocent. I didn’t know that she was already yours, and since we knew each other back then and I saw her struggling after what happened with Alexander, I tried to offer her a hand in case she needed it.

Even if Alexander hadn’t cheated on me, Kade had already tried to make a move on me–trying to claim me, even forcing himself on me.

“Help her?” Lucien’s voice was calm, but the edge in it was lethal. “You put your hands on my Luna and dared even try to steal her from Alpha Lucien”

The way he said my Luna sent a ripple through my chest. There was a possessive note, yes–but also something more dangerous. Yet for some reason, I didn’t hate it.

In fact, I quite liked it.

Kade’s shoulders stiffened, but he kept his head bowed. “Alpha… I didn’t mean any disrespect-
