Chapter 3
Yeah, Darius was broke as hell.
But he didn’t have any of that typical poor kid baggage-no chip on his shoulder, no insecurity, no glass ego.
Dude was confident, optimistic, never tried to hide where he came from. Those trust find assholes could throw all the shade they wanted-it just bounced right off him.
If someone talked to me like that? I’d be planning my funeral.
You know how it is-you’re always drawn to what you don’t have.
1 fell for Darius hard.
Finally screwed up enough courage to text him about taking a walk around the track.
Hot summer night, just us circling the field over and over.
Darius started cracking up.
“You’re gonna wear a groove in the concrete.”
“So Claire Morrison, what’s really going on here?”
The evening breeze still carried that scorching daytime heat, making my face burn even redder.
My heart was pounding like crazy, words coming out all choppy.
“I-1-um-”
Darius watched me with this amused smile, leaning in close to my ear.
“What?”
Moonlight carved out his sharp jawline, so close I could barely breathe.
My face went nuclear, heart hammering so loud I couldn’t speak.
Darius chuckled softly.
“Forget it. You’re too chicken. My turn.”
He straightened up, suddenly serious.
“Claire Morrison, I like you.”
After graduation, Darius and I somehow managed to stick it out in this overpriced city.
We were both flat broke-zero family money, just grinding on our own.
We busted our asses, but after rent? We were basically surviving on ramen.

Gold Digger vs Gold Saver: My Man’s Double Life
Chapter 31
I was so desperate I’d actually fantasize about hitting the lottery or some random billionaire showing up like, “Surprise! I’m your real dad!”
But never thought it would actually happen.
Just not to me. To Darius.
The butler was still going on and on about their twenty year search finally paying off.
“Young master, look last week I grabbed a hair from your desk and ran the DNA test.”
The butler choked up, tears streaming.
You’re really our young master
That billionaire I’d only seen on TV couldn’t contain himself anymore. He shot up, strode over, and grabbed Darius’s hands.
“Son, you’ve been through hell these past years.”
“Come home with Dad-your mother’s going to lose her mind when she sees you.”
He grabbed Darius’s arm, and with the butler on the other side, they basically sandwiched him toward the door.
